RE: rear kit vs rl

We are on our 3rd RK. The 1st two were TT's. No problem with any of them. If you like it buy it.

Proper adhesive for filon?

Does anyone know what kind of adhesive should be used on filon siding? Our 5er had been repaired before we bought it and after last weekends trip it appears that either they didn't glue it at all or the adhesive has failed. I haven't taken it apart yet but I would like to know what kind of adhesive to use. Thanks, John

RE: What is your favorite feature?

Paid for would have to be right up there. How easy it is to tow compared to our previous TT. And the storage!!!

RE: Installing hitch/cargo carrier to back of 5er

I installed a bolt-on receiver on my bumper. I then added a cargo carrier. I put some simple braces on the corners of the carrier to stop any twisting. I had this set-up on my previous TT for 5 years. Transferred it over to the 5er. It is very sturdy, I have stood on the tool box to wax the 5er and it is solid. Here is a pic. http://i1326.photobucket.com/albums/u655/shadows225/DSC00896_zps6fcc2d1f.jpg height=500

RE: Question about stabilizers

Just installed my stabilizers. Love them, eliminated all the "shake" in the fifth wheel. Yahoo. Just one question, I was looking at them the other day and I noticed that when I put up the landing gear the t-handles will hit the frame and prevent the landing gear from retracting all the way. I want to reverse the install and have the t-handles facing down. Has anybody done this? Will this increase my chances of losing a handle during travel?
This is one of the reasons I bought the BAL stabilizers, they use the same 3/4" size bolt that my rear scissor jacks use. I just tighten them with the same crank I use on the rear jacks. And the bolt sticks out the side. As to the OPer, I would think it would work fine to flip them over. Saw a post on here where someone drilled a small hole in the t-handle and wired them so they wouldn't come all the way out. Good luck, John

RE: \Water heater red light question

I have seen that on the electric side, but never in 14 years on the gas side.
//One exception is where the owner has installed additional pilot lights (usually green LEDs) on the switch panel//
Our previous 2000 Coachmen TT had a separate switch for the electric that looked like a household switch that had a red indicator light that showed the electric side was on. When you turned on the gas side a small red light would come on. When the burner lit then the red light would turn green. Wish my 2004 was like this.

RE: Hide-a-spare

I looked for pricing and finally found it here.
I am guessing that it is a new product. This is the only place I could find that even had a listing for it. I removed my spare tire and carrier from my rear bumper when I installed a cargo carrier. I think this would work well to mount the spare instead of just carrying it in the bed of the truck. Thanks, John

Hide-a-spare

Has anyone had any experience with this product from BAL? I would love to install one of these on our 5er. I would appreciate it if anyone could relate their experience thanks, John

RE: Tri pod to help eliminate movement

We just installed the BAL lock-arm stabilizers. They are very similar to the JT's. I am very happy with them. Almost all movement is gone. For me the 2 things I liked about them were that to tighten them you use the same crank that you lower the rear jacks with. And they were about 30 bucks cheaper than the JT's. Good luck, John

RE: Another Trip to The Mechanic

You need a new mechanic.
How do you know that? Did you listen/examine/diagnose the problem?
Its just my opinion. How do you know he doesn't? Did you listen/examine/diagnose the problem? No you didn't as I didn't. I just hate to see someone pay those high prices for something so simple to fix. JMHO :B
I know mechanics have to eat too but it wouldn't be on my dime.

RE: Pics of set up adjustment needed?

Thanks for all your concerns but I assure you they aren't warranted. I had the carrier just as pictured on my previous TT for 3 years with no problems. I was amazed at how sturdy it was when I put it on. If you look close you can see the braces on the bottom of the carrier. They really make it sturdy and take all the bounce out of it. I have carried fire wood, my leveling blocks and even a foldup BBQ grill. Maybe Coachmen just makes their bumpers sturdier! Thanks, John
PS. I thought the pool noodle comment was hilarious!!

RE: x-chock Tire Locking Chock

I disagree with the previous poster. The x chocks won't do anything to take the bounce out of your floor. They will stop the front to back movement but not side to side. I have a set and love em.

RE: Pics of set up adjustment needed?

No I wouldn't raise it at all. It actually looks just a bit nose high now so I would leave it alone.
That's what I thought it looks a bit nose high. I thought by raising the pin box that lowered the nose?

Pics of set up adjustment needed?

Hi all,
Finally got some pics of my 5er hitched up. On the bubble level the bubble is just inside of the two lines. Do you all think maybe I need to raise the pin box one hole? Hitch is set as low as it will go. I have 7 inches between the bed and the 5er. I also got my rear carrier from the TT transfered over and thought I would include a pic of it. Thanks, John

RE: 2013 FORD F-250 6.2 GAS ENG. MPG

Can't imagine you can get anything close to a 4:30 gearset in a F-250. But after looking you sure can. Can't imagine the mileage would be very good. It would be screaming at 60 mph
B.O.
I know you were just trying to help. But if you don't know you shouldn't guess at the answer.
To the OP'er you might check here. That is a link to the 6.2 forum on FTE. I am sure you can get first hand information there. Good luck, John
P.S. For just a bit more you could step up to an F350 and have plenty of truck. JMHO
