RE: Power inverter

Useful if u do a lot of dry camping without any access to hookups, but 1000w inverter isnt very big and would only run a few things. To run a lot u need a 6 battery bank and large inverter like on the larger class a's. usually cant fit that many batteries on a class c due to limited carrying capacity and space. We always stay in a campground with hookups and use the generator while driving, so we almost never use the inverter, except maybe for interior lighting when the rv isnt hooked up and generator isnt running. I get a lot more use out of my generator, but a lot of people who dry camp swear by their solar panel, battery, inverter setup. For a size reference, my generator is 4000 watts

RE: V10 or diesel?

Just because there is a dodge or mercedes dealer in town does not necessarily mean they work on sprinter based rvs. The information regarding parts availability and acess to qualified mechanics is also discussed in the class a forum section about owning a class a vs c. And several posts mentioned having to take their sprinter diesels to a shop that works specifically on diesels, not just a mercedes or dodge auto dealer. Parts availability for the mercedes sprinter was specifically mentioned. As far as cost, it is more expensive to get a mercedes car worked on than a ford. Not sure it would be any different with an rv.

RE: Front bed over cab class C

With 5 adults plus luggage plus fuel plus water is there any risk of overloading the rv? At the very least, storing that much luggage in the cabover would change the center of gravity and affect the handling/ lean/ sway of the rig

RE: Do You Exercise The Generator In Your Class C ?

so does anyone think it is better to store the rv inside out of the winter elements and not be able to exercise the generator or store it outside where it is exposed to the elements but be able to exercise the generator?

RE: Do You Exercise The Generator In Your Class C ?

I store my rv indoors in winteer so I cant exercise it. Use fuel stabilizer. Got rv out this week and gen started right up

RE: Driving a class C

Had same problem. Do following Front end alignment Bilstein shocks Rear anti sway bar Steer safe steering stabilizer Made my 32ft class c drive like a suburban. Steering stabilizer helps front end wander Anti sway bar helps control lean and swaying Bilsteins shocks smooth out up and down harshness Front end alignment important because cab is initially aligned before box is put on. Cant recommend these changes enough. Guaranteed to help. Even new stock rv shocks are still cheap. I did all these changes on a new rv after only 800 miles and could not believe the differ3nce. Cost 3k total installed and worth every penny. If I had to choose id start with alignment and steering stabilizer but id do all if possible. World of difference even in wind or passing semi etc.

RE: V10 or diesel?

Diesel cost more tobuy initially More expensive to maintain Harder to get worked on Parts can be harder to get Diesel advantage kicks in on rv over 35 ft although I have seen gas rv as long as 39. Diesel may be more advantageous if driving lots of miles per yr or towing heavy loads. I like diesel because quieter with engine in rear and u get air suspension which is a great ride but I own a 32 ft class c gas

RE: Four Winds vs Sunseeker

I have had both and feel sunseeker has better quality: enclosed tanks, fiberglass roof, better cabinets , some come with firestone air bags

RE: opinions needed on class C length

You wont notice the extra 3 feet at all once u get used to it and ride should be similar. I went from 26 to 32ft and had no problem. Anything under 30 ft is pretty maneuverable. I remember th3 first time I test drove a 31 ft and thought it was huge. Now 32ft seems small. 30ft and under will go anywhere except a resort that allows class a only. Esp with 28 ft wont need a toad although it is more convenient not having to break camp every time u want to go somewhere. Thats the only reason I tow a car. Other2ise I could take a 32 ft and especially a 28 ft anywhere. Took my 26ft Iinto downtown little rock arkansas and parked it on the street. Recommend bilsteins shocks , steering stabilizer, and rear sway bar to improve ride and handling on any class c regardless of length

RE: 2011 Sunseeker 3010DS

I have the 2012 3010. Likes: Lots of counter space. Amazing how quickly counter space fills up in an RV. Enclosed, heated tanks Extra storage area for garbage can that can be accessed from outside. fiberglass roof instead of rubber so no black streaks. manual ride rite air bags. I would suggest getting an air pump installed in the cab so you can adjust on the fly. I always suggest upgrading the shocks to Bilsteins, a steering stabilizer, and at least a rear sway bar to improve handling and ride on any class C. Makes a big difference. I got the upgraded Serta mattress which is much better than stock.

RE: Four Winds or Jayco Greyhawk

in my opinion, yes and I dont own a jayco. i had a four winds, which is now under Thor, but I thought the jayco interior and build quality was better. It was my first rv and I could not get a good enough deal on the jayco and was buying a smaller unit at the time. I actually have a forest river 3010 now and have been very satisfied, and like its layout and extras even better than jayco, but the floorplan that works for you best is whats important. P.S. not sure about 2013, but when I looked at Jayco in 2011, they had "helper' springs that made the ride a bit stiffer, and rubber bumper stops between the frame and the box which was supposed to help ride. Forest River comes with manual firestone ride rite air bags in the rear to help with heavier loads. Four Winds does not have either.

RE: Does my 2013 Forester need Dealer's xtra Exterior Coating??

Most dealer offered extras are overpriced and can be gotten much cheaper in the aftermarket if you must have. Car dealers offer same exact thing when u buy a new car.. Things to avoid from dealer are extended warranties, exteriorcoating' , interirior stain blocker, undercoating

RE: Need help with stabilizer jacks

Class c usually doesnt come with them because system weighs 100- 200 lbs whichdecreases analready limited cargo carrying capaacity. But some type of stabilizing while parked is helpful but not a necessity. I put scissors jacks under the rear frame of my fr 3010 and it works but it is a pain. Would like to have bifoot levelers. Most who get automatic levelers on a c swear by them

RE: Buy new or used

Remember you may get 25% off list new, more if u find a prior model year leftover. If u are willing to travel, u should be able to find leftover new or go thru rvdirect. Advantage to buying used besides price is hopefully the prior owner worked out all the bugs, since any new unit will have a few gremlins to be solved.

RE: Towing a toad

Check ford website and motorhome magazine gyide to dinghy towing to see if it can be towed four wheels down. If so a tow bar will be lighter cheaper and easier to store. (Unless u are towing just one time) . I have a 2012 focus that I tow and dont even know its back there. But its dependent on the year of the car as to whether it can be towed. Tow bar may be a bit easier to set up but that is just my opinion but a bar is definitely easier to store. I do not use a trailbrake. If u can go the towbar route make sure and get one with adjustable arms such as demco , blue ox or roadmaster which are easier to hook up than a rigid tow bar If u go with a dolly make sure the weight of the dolly and car dont exceed the hitch rating. U will need to hiok up the brake lights or get extra magnet mount brake lights too. But a 31 ft jayco should be ok

RE: Owning a DP is more then it's cracked up to be

Just test drove a breeze 32 ft dp and now i see why you shouldnt test drive a dp unless you are ready to buy. Loved the ride, handling, and less noise. Floorplan didnt work for my kids but now i see what i am missing. Would think the extra cost is worth the much better overall quality

Class c ride vs class a gas

Was looking at a breeze dp but it wont meet my needs. Was therfore thinking of a tiffin or forest river georgetown class a GAS with bunks. How different is the ride between a class c and class a GAS , not a diesel pusher. Loved the breeze by the way. You can see my eval of the breeze in the thread about looking to trade in a lazy daze for a breeze. The prior class a vs c threads didnt address specically gas, and im looking for info about ride and handling of a gas class a, thanx

RE: Thinking of selling the Lazy Daze and buying a Breeze.

I had the salesman drive while i checked out the back to seew what my family would be experiencing since i almost always drive. The diesel smell was present while in motion. There is no vent in the bedroom. But the motor was quiet even when in motion and i was in back right by it. Took the family back to look at the unit and my 10 yr old daughter said she felt squished because the ceiling was lower than in our c. I thought she was wrong until we went into a unit exactly like my class c which happened to be parked right next door, and she was right! The ceiling in my c was higher. Kids! The sofa is not a pull out but a jacknife and probably wont hold two comfortably, so with kids the sleeping arrangements would be more of a problem . Would have to covert both sofa and dinette each night to sleep 4 . Loved the quiet comfortable ride and the air suspension but after having the family in there its probably better suited for two. Would love to get a dp with bunks but that gets out of my price range.

RE: Thinking of selling the Lazy Daze and buying a Breeze.

Just test drove the 2013 breeze 32 ft. Supposedly The 2013has slightly more hp Quiet, handles well even at 70 mph in a wind passing a semi. quiet even in the rear at speed. Absolutely no acceleration from a stop but pulls gradual and strong and once up to speed felt adequately powered, as opposed to My Gas class c which accelereates off the line but works harder at the upper end. i had the pedal all the way to the floor and the engine just kind of took its time getting up to speed but i had no problems passing trucks on the highway. Steering did not feel Twitchy or Loose even when passing a semi. Felt precise. minimal bump steer. minimal wander, esp when complared to a stock class c. Size wize felt like i was driving my 32 ft class c. Took about 5 min to get used to claass a size. Drove it in town and on highway. impressed with build quality of cabinets, storage bays, etc. You can get to bathroom even when slides are in as opposed to allegro red 34 ft Front passenger seating didnt seem very comfortable Could ride in dinette but not surecouch would be very comfortable for extended sitting I had sales man drive while i wandered around in back, and it was still quieter than my class c Big issue is i could smell diesel fumes in back bedroom a lot while he was driving and i was back there I see what they mean about the air suspension though. It was much nicer than a gas leaf spring. Brakes are strong. Sales guy said it still isnt what a full diesel pusher like the 34 ft red on the freightliner chassis with the cummins engine would be like. He said those are louder but ride even better but brakes dont feel as strong due to more weight. Not as kid friendly as my claass c but a great ride P.s because of slow acceleration off a stop getting on freeway would take some adjusting because you couild not be aggressive at all but would have to let others go and pick your spot but i haveto do that inmy classc anyway. But there was no issue passing a semi going up hill at 65-70 mph in a wind
