RE: Rivering on steer tire

What am I missing here? How would you rotate steer tires to a dual position? I was always taught that duals must be changed as a pair to ensure that they remain loaded correctly. I had to run 100 miles with a new tire on a dual after a blowout to get to a tire location - I had to stop every 20 miles and let the larger overloaded tire cool down! Rotation sounds like a recipe for disaster - or am I wrong?

Anyone tried to match natural gelcoat in paint?

After my MH was detailed, I found a few areas that the PO had attempted to spray with a rattle can to cover an area of repair. Looks like they used a polar white rather than the 'Colonial' white of the original bare gelcoat Has anyone had any luck finding a paint color that can match the 'slightly faded' original gelcoat? I'm not expecting it to be perfect but something a little less obvious that what we currently have :)

RE: Poli Glow Wax

The choice is a $1300 buff and shine or $20 of Zep This is the former! http://www.ywip.com/newmar/kountry_star.jpg width=500

RE: Poli Glow Wax

Has anyone ever sprayed Zep? Wonder if that would give a temporary (12 month) look similar to clearcoat but without the prep time?

RE: New to me Class A

Once you get into the lifestyle it's hard to go back to regular living! We full timed for 2.5 years and are just going back into it and we are so excited. Congrats on "The Beast" - they are really nice rigs. (ex Beaver owner too lol)

RE: That pesky scam

If you get the number they are calling from and the Google it, you can usually see from various web sites how much of a scam it is. I've been getting a lot from Research USA asking about my Business - sometimes it can be fun giving them a runaround - other times it's just annoying. Even though I am registered on the Do Not Call List, I still get them.

RE: Tag Axle workings

Mike A friend of mine has an 01 Dynasty and the tags are UP regardless of the switch position - electrically it works as far as the relay works and sends 12V somewhere but nothing can get the tag to come down. I have run the coach down the road but it just locks up the tag when braking. Where is the air pressure regulator? Is it electrically controlled? I also tried dumping the air and letting it charge back up again to no avail Thanks Steve

RE: Making a 1984 Southwind Eagle prettier.....I hope

I'm just embarking on my next project and you might be interested in something I just found. My Newmar has a formica work surface that looks very dated and DW kept asking me for a granite counter but of course it's waaay to heavy. I have just bought a roll of stick on granite vinyl 'As seen on TV' from Overstock (actually from their eBay outlet which is cheaper) I'll be writing up the process but it looks like it's a case or removing stove and sink (easy), cleaning it all up and then laying it down and using a squeegee to remove the air bubble. It can be repositioned easily until it's done and then you use a heat gun to 'activate' the adhesive. I hoping it will really jazz up the kitchen area for about $70 - fingers crossed http://www.ebay.com/itm/350709273743

RE: Give me some examples?

Nothing wrong with older rigs IF they have been maintained well. Keep an open mind and be prepared to travel and move quickly. Rigs in that price range that are half decent sell very quickly. Don't worry too much about fading decals and oxidized gelcoat - it puts a lot of people off, especially DWs, but in reality, you can throw an extra $2k at it in a good detail shop and have it coming out looking like an almost new rig. I have had great luck finding rigs (now on #5) owned by retired Military - they seem to keep on top of the maintenance, even if it doesn't look too pretty ;) And just my opinion and experience, stay away from dealers! At your price range you need to be looking for a private seller.

RE: I just bought a 1997 Holiday Rambler 32' Vacationer

I just bought a 1996 class A with the 460 - I didn't know at the time that it had the banks exhaust and cold air intake system installed - I don't think it has the TransCommand tho. Considering it's 38' long, it takes off like a scalded cat! I never tried it without the Banks of course but it's a dream to drive with it. The TransCommand firms up the transmission shifts - I don't know if that makes it less comfortable to drive tho - I'm not a fan personally of hard shifting transmissions but maybe it's not too bad.

RE: Looking for inspiration (graphics)

OK, the rig just came back from the detail shop - decal removal was a lot harder than they thought and it took 7 hours to complete. The buffing and polishing tool 39 hours as they went round it 3 times and I have to say it looks phemonenal - however it has shown a couple of areas that a PO has attempted some repairs with a spray can - we are looking to see if we can use some vinyl to cover those areas. The total cost for the decal removal and buff was $1300. I am working with the decal shop over the weekend to see if we can come up with some nice designs. Pictures coming soon :)

RE: Ebay = Bad --------Amazon = Good

I too have been an Ebayer since 2001 - I even visited their corporate HQ back when they were starting up around 1999. For many years they were THE place to go to for deals and bargains but their extortionate sellers fees have put off a large number of small sellers and the prices from the 'big boys' are way over what you can buy from elsewhere. Cases in point - I just bought an RV Water Softener - from AffordableWater.us - $208 delivered - from eBay $287 Air Dream mattress from RVMattressBargains.com $289 delivered - from eBay $305 I'm now in the market for some new Window Awnings - eBay isn't my first choice for those either.

Anyone using an Air Dream on their sofa bed?

I'm looking at replacing the cheap and uncomfortable full size mattress on our Flexsteel Harlequin sofa. I am concerned that with the Air Dream inflatable mattress it might not all fold up neatly and cause issues with seating. Can anyone confirm that it does fold up OK?

RE: Pronunciation of "Berkshire"

Years ago We took our high school class trip to London. There was a group of us looking for Beauchamp st.(this was the it was spelled) ( we pronounce it Bow shamp here in the states.)We looked for quite a while asking people along the way where it was and nobody knew. Finally we asked another gentleman where it was and he never heard of it either. He asked us if we had a map and we did so we showed him the street. He goes OH you mean Beechimp st., it was down a couple of blocks from where we were. Unfortunately the Brits have no concept of a 'block' ;) If I really want to wind them up in the office I pronounce my zee's as zed's Steve

RE: Pronunciation of "Berkshire"

C'mon Frank - as one ex-Pat to another, you know these guys all speak American and not Engish ;) They pronounce it "Burk Shire" This could become an interesting (and completely off topic) conversation LOL Steve

RE: replace old analog TV

I am just in the process of changing out mine. What I have done so far is pull out the old tube TV from the front box and take a piece of wood 8" * 19" and screwed in two pieces of 1*1 on either side of the box so that this piece of wood drops into the channels made by them. That means it can be dropped in and removed for travel and gives me a vertical face on which to mount a height adjustable TV mount that I found. I have bought a 40" Samsung LED TV for $399 from eBay (open box) and will mount this to the bracket. It weighs less than 20lbs. The inside of the TV box now has a new shelf for the Dish DVR and I have lined it with 1/16 black self adhesive felt to disguise the big open box during travel. When we travel, the TV will lie down on the bed - when we stop I simply drop the mount into the slots and we have a fully articulated mount to get the best viewing position. I'll post pictures when I'm done.

RE: Best Route for Tucson to Vegas and where to stay

If you pass through Lake Havasu you can stop for a couple of days and explore the lake - the weather is warm enough (mid to high 80's) to take a boat out on the lake for a day. Plenty of RV Parks and snowbirds start leaving in March. If you are going to Vegas, parks range from the highest quality (Las Vegas Motorcoach Resort) to the cheap and cheerful - Roadrunner on Boulder Highway, and everything inbetween - depends on your budget and expectations.

RE: PC Memory Question

Just as an aside, here's a couple of ideas... If your 'old' laptop is slowing down, consider this... when you purchased it, it was fast and you loved it. Unlike cars, engines and human beings, laptops don't slow down because of age, they slow down because they get filled up with unnecessary files and drivers and miscellaneous programs. Sure, adding more memory will help an ailing laptop, but restoring it to it's original situation will restore it to it's original, fast condition. I've done it to a few older laptops that the owners couldn't believe could be so fast. Sure it means backing up the files and making sure I had registration details for the software but it really is worth doing.

RE: WiFi networks - a bit of a technical question

OK, I'll give that a try. I have some Linksys N routers lying around and have played with ddwrt in the past but hadn't realized it would be quite that easy. Thanks!

RE: OMG do I need help! Satellite reception

OK, still slightly confused (but getting the hang of it LOL) The carryout has a master and a slave output which I assume is intended for 2 receivers as Bill described. I have held off on buying the DVR however as Bill seemed less than enthusiastic about it working. I want to use a Dish DVR that can show 1 channel and record another from the same satellite. Which DVR will do this? (Model #) Do I run 1 cable to it or 2 Or, do I have to have 2 211K receivers and use external HDs to create DVRs and then run 1 cable to each (that's an ugly solution) Thanks again so much for your help and advice
