Need your input...........what do you think?

Well, I just sold my 41 foot Diesel Pusher, was beautiful, drove and rode like a dream, but was way more motorhome then I needed for just myself and my dog, so I'm downsizing, so now I'm trying to decide on what to buy. I use to own an 03 Fleetwood Southwind 32V on a Worhkhorse Chassis. Size was just about right for me, loved the floorplan, but the ride could be better and the engine noise was loud at times. I've been looking online at 07-08 Southwinds and had just about made up my mind to buy one. Then I started thinking about a smaller diesel pusher. Trouble is, there aren't many out there under 36 feet. Most of the ones I've seen are built by Monaco, which are good motorhomes, but I don't like the ride of the Roadmaster R4R Chassis. I had one once and it had a very stiff ride. I don't want to buy anything older then 05 in a DP and can't afford anything much newer then and 07 or so. Like most I do have a budget. So I'm trying to decide if I just keep looking for a DP or just go buy a Southiwnd. I think I've looked at every motorhome for sale on the west coast. I've been looking at Craigslist, RV trader and RVT.com. I've located a couple of Southwinds, so do I go buy one, or keep looking for a DP? I know there's no right or wrong answer, just looking for input. Thanks Brian

07 Mandalay Valencia, pros and cons?

Looking at an 07 Mandalay Valencia. I know nothing about this make or model. It has about 20k miles. Has a cummins 300hp engine with a 5 spped transmission. Diddn't they make a 6 speed that is suppose to be better? Anything to be concerned about the engine for this year?Looking for any pros or cons on this model. Thanks Brian

RE: Well, it finally happened, got hit, but no damage

Maybe I was not clear, I was STOPPED at a red light, and the truck came up on my left side....even if I was hugging (which I was not) his side, as he drove up next to me, why didn't he stop? Brian

RE: Well, it finally happened, got hit, but no damage

OnaQuest....I'll be the first to admit when I'm wrong, but in this case, I was stopped and as close as I could tell was not hugging either line. Thanks for the encouraging words, like they say, there's one in every crowd, and you win this time. Someone almost wiped out what I've worked several years for. A very upsetting experience, and then someone has to make what they think is a funny remark, sorry, I don't think it was funny. Takes a lot for me to get mad, but sir you pushed the wrong button. Well, it finally happened, got hit, but no damage

Was stopped at an intersection last night, a 2 axle box truck came up on my left side and his mirror hit my mirror. Don't know why he was hugging the right side of his lane, probably was distracted, or maybe just an idiot. Turned my mirror 90 degrees, I blew my horn at him, but as soon as the light turned green, he was off. Couldn't believe it, the good thing, I couldn't see any damage last night, and looked everything over this mronign, and can believe it, but I don't even see any scratches. Needless to say I was a little,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ah, won't say it, but now, I'm better. Brian

RE: What is the best Tow/Brake set up for a Towed Vehicle?

Isn't the Readybrake baiscally a surge brake? One thing I've always been concerned about in a surge brake is burning up the brakes on a long down hill grade. Seems like the tow brakes would be activiated continiously. Brian

Ford vs Workhorse as far as Ride?

I asked a similar question before and thank you for the response. Now I'm maninly looking for input on ride. I'm considering an 07 or 08 Fleetwood Southwind 32V. That model was avialable with both the Workhorse (Chev 8.1) or Ford(V-10) Chassis. So considering the same exact model motorhome, is there any difference in ride? I've heard the Ford ride a little nicer, but don't know that for a fact. Looking for input. Thanks Brian

Anyone downsized from a DP to a smaller gas motorhome?

I started out a few years back with a 03 Southwind 32V. I know have a Fleetwood Revolution DP, which is a great motorhome. I'm going to downsize, simply, because I want to go into some small campground to do some fishing, and the Rev is just to much. It's just me and my dog, so smaller is fine. I was considering a Class C on a Sprinter chasis, but lately, I'm really thinking of another Southwind 32V. Anyone else gone from a DP to a smaller Gasser? Would like to hear your comments. Brian

RE: Air Ride on a Class A Gasser

Check with Henderson RV in Grants Pass, they have suspension upgrades.

RE: Air Ride on a Class A Gasser

Just because it's an air bag suspension, doesn't automatically make it a better ride........Drive a Roadmaster R4R Chassis, 4 air bag suspension. It probably rides worse then your leaf spring chassis. Before I spent $4,000, I'd make sure it really improved the ride. I did an after market ride enhancement kit on a diesel pusher I use to own, $3,000 later, and I didn't think it helped at all. That's not to say they're aren't kits out there the would help either. RE: Ford vs Workhorse ??

how would the engine noise compare between the two cruising down the freeway on level ground at 55-60mph? Is the Ford louder because of the higher doghouse? or are they about the same?

Grade Brake??

On the gas motorhome, how does a grade brake work? How do you engage it? Pros/cons ? Thanks Brian

Ford vs Workhorse ??

Considering Fleetwood 07 or 08 Fleetwood Southwind 32V. What are the pros and cons on the Ford Chasis vs the Worhorse Chasis ? Thanks Brian

Downsizing A or C ?

First off, I know there is no definitvie answerI intially was looking at the Class C Winnebago Views or Fleetwood Jamboree on the Sprinter Chasis. They're 25 feet and have everything I need. One of the things I don't like about a class C is the limited visibility out thru the windshield while in the living area. I like an open feeling, and enjoy the view out the front in the class A's. My first motorhome was a 2003 Southwind 32V which I really liked, other then it had a stiff ride and the engine noise. I've been considering another one now. Mine had 19.5 tires and I'm looking at 07-09 or so with 22.5 tires, I'm wondering if the bigger tires help with the ride? Anyway, one of the reasons I'm downsizing is I want to go into some smaller campgrounds to do some fishing, and a 32ft would work. The better gas mileage of the Sprinter is nice too. I like the idea of a full size bed in the Southwind vs a corner bed in the Views, I know the views have a slide out bed in the rear, but I don't care for the remainder of the floor plan. So looking for any and all comments. I know there's no right or wrong answers, but would appreciate your thoughts. Yes, I will be towing my car too. Thanks Brian

RE: RVTradernetwork.com anyone used them?

Thanks for the info, I just wanted to to say, that they did their best to get me to sign up while I was on the phone, I told them I'd research it and to call me back in a couple of days. Before I hung up he told me their might not be an opening to list my motorhome in a couple of days and that I should do while they had a spot for my listing, Right there I knew something was up. Also like other posters have said, they told me they'd list it for more then I was asking and had buyers waiting to pay full price. I've never heard back from them, which is fine, I would politely tell them that I was not interested. Brian

RVTradernetwork.com anyone used them?

I'm selling my 05 Fleetwood Revolution and this company has contacted me. Evidently they charge a flat fee of $399.00 to list it at 20 different sites, find a buyer, adn arrange financing. Anyone know anything about them? or have use them? They also have a site RVTradernet.com Thanks Brian
