In the auto industry and I suspect the Rv industry, the manufacturers offer year end model carry over allowances to the dealers. This on units from a previous model year production run and vary in amounts. For example a dealer with a 2011 model could have already received hundreds if not thousands of dollars from the manufacturer. Dealers do not normally not sell a unit to get this allowance but they might delay the delivery if it 's getting close to that cut off date.

I avoid buying anything from a dealer. They are not the most honest and they have overhead that private sellers do not have and therefore can sell something for less money. If a private party lists something at dealer price I would not bother. Bottom line-something is only worth what a person is willing to pay for it. If it is not selling then it is overpriced.
Are you implying a private party is always honest about the history of their RV? How many private parties offer any type of warranty? I know many dealers that offer 30 days ,or offer some sort of mechanical warranty? Even offer to pay part of the costs of any warranty company you may choose?
Many private sellers in fact have a considerable amount of overhead; thus is the reason(s) they are trying to sell their RV!

Hurricane damage can be a result of wind or water caused by flood or wind. When a disaster hits it is very difficult to tell what caused what. What came first the water or the wind?
I live in Florida and never want to be confronted with an adjuster as we stand knee deep in water with the roof blown off discussing whether it was caused by the wind or a flood? So I have wind damage and flood insurance. I do not live in a flood plain.
We had major hurricane damage to our motor home in 2004 by Charlie. GMAC came to the rescue, paid $52,000 and there was never any arguments. I won't leave home without them..

Too many times folks buy insurance primarily based on the rates/cost. The problem then becomes on how good is cheap insurance service?. The main reason we have insurance is to cover any losses. The old adage applies..."you get what you pay for"

Buying used has the same problem for me, whether it's from a private party or a dealer. You have no idea what the previous owner did or didn't do to it that is not readily visible. So many RV'ers do their own repairs or have their trusted Brother-in-law do it. A lot like campgrounds electrical wiring jobs...

Also "stage" your RV, that is dress up the inside with inexpensive nick nacks flowers, etc. Makes a big difference to prospective buyers.

To those who are lumping all RV's into an unacceptable quality category; I challenge you to visit at least 3 factories and make your improvement suggestions to the quality control folks. Then sit back and add $ signs to the added labor and parts pricing that will be needed. Entry level RV's are built to keep costs lower than the higher end ones; so if ya want improvements to entry level then the pricing becomes prohibitive.
If you want to smooth out the rides then ya add air bags, framing weight, bigger tires etc ; the result is higher pricing.
Now I know that some manufacturers build better quality than others but that's true in all manufacturing.

We have a 2000 watt inverter with 100 amp converter/ 6 house batteries. Our frig is a 2door kitchen aid with bottom freezer.

RE: Awesome experience at Brookville (near Dayton, OH) KOA
We have stayed here 3-4 times over the years as it's the best place in the area. I am not a KOA fan but .... this campground is good except if it's been raining the sites hold water and only a few sites work with satellite.

RE: NY to Quechee, VT
For what it's worth department, RT 2 goes east and west not north and south.
Depending on where you enter Vt there are a couple ways to get to Quechee. RT 4 goes east and west, through Quechee and is drivable with any RV.

Lazy Days has always had that reputation, among most folks. There are a few that swear the sun rises and sets in them, but the MAJORITY get screwed every time. We were among the believers at one time, but finally woke up, after I caught them lying to us and showing us a totally fake MSRP sticker, made up in house, that was $10K higher than the true MSRP sticker, the manufacturer had sent to me. We will not even think of purchasing an RV from them.
The majority? I wonder where this statistic comes from?
