RE: What is the ONE thing that your next MH will have...?

The mattress you pump up with a spokesperson movie star on it. :) ;)

RE: Bleach smell in tanks

There's really very little water in the lines themselves, it's probably residual in the tanks. As said about all you can do is dilute it. Fill and drain the tanks (heater too) until the smell goes away, then fill and run water through the lines. Cheers !!!

RE: Lakeside rv parks in texas

Inks Lake State Park. Wildlife galore, golf course down the road. Lots of water sports. They rent all you need at the park store and the scenery is beautiful.

RE: Cummins 5.9L DP Power? Towing Capabilities

The answer is in what kind of car you drive. If it's a subcompact you are ok. If it's a Vette hold out for more. :)

RE: Rank the build quality?

Texasbaskets - We just sold our Coachman gasser and loved every second of it. It was our first MH and since we know that our entire family loves the whole RV experience, we decided now was the time to step up and buy a diesel if we could sell our gasser. We sold it the day we listed it and now have cash burning a hole in our pocket! Our budget is under 70k and would like to be under 65, so that is one major limitation. Speaking of Coachman, we found one in Mobile that fits our budget. It looks beautiful from the outside and the interior is very nice. The only thing about it that we don't like is the 275hp cummins. I was hoping to get a 330 or better. Congrats on the sale in one day. Guess that Coachmen brand didn't hurt you too much.. :) Have you looked at the coach prices at PPL? Their stock is a pretty good indicator of what the market is doing. They might even be close enough to you for a trip. :) ;) PPL Motorhomes in Houston, TX. I wished I had your problem.. lol. Have a good weekend.

RE: Rank the build quality?

Wow, I am now officially off of the Alfa I was looking at. (I know, I'm easily influenced) I have seen some Beavers that I like. They seem to have warm interiors. I don't know that I have seen any travel supremes, I am googling it next. Alpine seems few and far between. Thanks for the advice. Just to explain my logic, we looked at used and new coaches for two full years while we owned a Fleetwood Class C. We knew every RV salesman in the metroplex by their first name. My list was based on how we perceived and observed these brands holding up over time. We looked at a lot of junk, but some nice stuff as well. You might ask why we bought a new Coachmen which I ranked lower in my list. That's because we thought they improved enough to get our vote in the price range we could afford. Remember that the economy was different in '05 as well which was right in the midst of the RV boom. There are some great buys out there in higher line coaches that weren't within reach back then. Also, used units in prime condition that we could afford weren't really much cheaper than new in many cases. Good luck. :) ;)

RE: Rank the build quality?

I'm sure you understand there is a wide range of price in this list. :) ;) For 2000-2004 I would rate the ones you listed in this order. 1. Country Coach 2. Newmar 3. Winnebago 4. Tiffin 5. Monaco 6. Holiday Rambler 7. Fleetwood 8. Coachman 9. Damon 10. Gulf Stream 11. Alfa Since you are buying in model years when there was plenty of choice, I would also look at: American Coach Itasca (Winnebago) Travel Supreme (one of our favs - would be our next coach) Alpine (had kewl interiors and chassis) Beaver (wood lover's dream) Safari (different interiors) Have fun !!!

RE: Do new homebuyer tax credits apply to RV purchases?

I did find this publication from the IRS concerning a federal tax deduction on Motorhomes. It seems some persons will qualify to deduct the taxes or a portion of on a new Motorhome purchase if made by a certain date. Maybe you can get a little relief on your costs with this. IRS.gov.

RE: pusher 30 to 34 ft

We drove a 34' Bounder DP back in '05. It was ok but a little short for us. Here's one like it. The biggest issue we had with short rigs was the slideout on the curb side was right up against the back of the passenger seat. Not a lot of room to recline.

RE: Removing a wheel cover

The lugnut will typically have a dimple in it. The nuts holding on the wheel cover screw onto the stud threads protruding from the regular nuts holding the wheel in place. Mine were on really right. The tire shop had to use the impact wrench to get them off. You may need a cheater. Good luck. :) ;)

RE: sharpen knifes

OP, I know the feeling. Like my dad would say, the best way to keep a good screwdriver is to buy a set of chisels. lol. Besides, her entire family can tear up an anvil with a rubber mallet. I love them all dearly, but they are tough on stuff. :) ;) That said, I use a Chef's Choice, but saved my quality knives by getting DW a cheap set of her own Ginsu knives from Walmart. :) ;)

RE: Do new homebuyer tax credits apply to RV purchases?

From IRS.gov. (I think this is the same as above..) Q. Can an individual who has lived in an RV qualify for the credit? A. For purposes of the first-time homebuyer credit, an RV with a built-in motor is personal property that is not affixed to land and does not qualify as a principal residence. Accordingly, someone who has owned and lived in an RV within the past three years may still qualify as a first-time homebuyer. :) ;)

RE: Dodge/Chrysler enthusiasts, here's a link to the 5 year plan

The milestone most people I know are interested in is the private sale of the government's share. I didn't see that in the plan. :) ;)

RE: DIESEL 7.5 ONAN,STOPS WHEN COACH NOT RUNNING

As asked, will the generator start without the engine running or using the chassis booster switch? If not, check the house batts. They are probably low on charge or won't hold a charge. Clean terminals and water them up if needed. For faster results, if your CC has an inverter, turn it off or to Charge Only. (the switch would be in the energy management panel or where the other switches are). Drive around or use a charger to put some juice in the batts and try again. BTW, I've had this happen twice when the batts went way low. :) ;) Hopefully that's all it is. If the batts are toast, a couple of golf cart replacements from Sams will get you back on track. Good luck.

RE: Newbie question....covering tires with what?

OP, those are usually vinyl covers made specifically for your tire size. As for the reason, well, just do a little math. Tire Covers = $85 New Tires = $3,000 Covering the tires to protect from UV makes perfect sense. If you don't now, you start the day after you replace your first set of tires because they cracked. (Mine lasted 4 years in this Texas sun.) :) For professional guidance... Go here and read page 7. Or... Go here and read page 5. Goodyear says RV tires don't need covered, but just try to tell that to the people who've replaced them. :) Storage pressure recommendations varied between those two manufacturers as well. I follow the ones for my brand. :) ;)

RE: Will this vehicle save Chrysler

Nope. The FIAT has two seats in the front so you can take your riding mechanic. A couple of salty winter roadtrips through Michigan will erode away what's left. :) Talk about a model that will depreciate more than any other Chrysler product... lol. That's the only contest it might win. The only cars to save Chrysler are the Jeep and the Cummins diesel pickup, the very two the "new management in town" would have them ditch. The Yugo was cute too. :) Especially the ones with the Pizza warmer option to attract the delivery men.
