RE: Annual Maintenance Cost

Whatever you come up with, add at least $500/yr. for tire replacement. :h I think that is a reasonable budgeting amount to put aside in a separate account - so that when times comes to replace those 6 (8) tires you have the funds available. Barb True, if you are lucky for 6 years you have cash in the bank, but otherwise, at 15,000 miles per year, the OP should expect to make at least one tire repair or maintenance run to the tire shop. A maintenance run to the tire shop for remove, inspect, balance and rotate will cost you that much, and usually in a place you didn't anticipate. :) ;)

RE: Repeater v. Internet sharing and a high gain antenna.

Again for the OP what are you planning to do that cutting your bandwidth will cause you problems? You can use client mode and use another router to be wireless in your camper with no loss of bandwidth. Using repeater mode makes it easy and you only need one router. It's Federal Government classified, which means I can't tell you. :) ;)

RE: Montana LLC sales tax excemtion

Some state and local sales tax deductions may be available to you but only for a limited time, depending on how much you spend and how much you earn. Read here. (IRS.gov)

RE: Repeater v. Internet sharing and a high gain antenna.

You've got me curious about bandwidth being cut. OK... CG WiFi is running nicely today and I did a test running it across an ethernet bridge to my router as well as directly connected via my PC NIC. The results are interesting. I used This test tool to get the numbers. Running across from my Lenovo NIC to a Cradlepoint router to a Linksys bridge I get about 1100 kb/s download and about 95 kb/s upload. Running direct from my Lenovo NIC I get about 1100 kb/s download but 256 kb/s upload. So for my config the receive performance is not impacted but the transmit is cut by more than half. Anyone have an idea to explain this? I sure know how I'm running my softphone from now on. Hence one of the reasons for my thread. :) ;) I think I'm going with the external adapter and booster approach with a directional antenna.

That should get me started... thanks much to all. :) ;) I'll let you know the results.

RE: 2003 Coachmen Cross Country Elite 376 DS-CATERPILLAR

The earlier Elite (and some Encore models that we looked at in '05) had Cat engines in them. The lesser optioned Sportscoaches like the SE and the Cross Country had the ISB. I've not seen any Elites that had the ISB, but they may be out there. :) ;)

RE: Repeater v. Internet sharing and a high gain antenna.

High Gain antennas placed up high are your best choices coupled with an external WiFi (airport) adaptor and Connection Sharing. If you can add a 1W amp/pre-amp to the system that will also help. Thanks everyone. Steve, I think you understand where I am going. I'm not going to boot up any nuclear reactors, just want to understand the principals some. :) ;) When you say external adapter, are you referring to the antenna leadin i.e. USB, or is that another device? Where is the pre-amp inserted into the system?

RE: Discrimination against RV's bigger than 30'

You might actually take a little different approach. If the town wants to issue permits (not add parking restrictions) agree with it but express an opinion that it doesn't reach out far enough. Ask to have boats and all recreational vehicles added to the requirements which will ratchet up the resistance. Also, something doesn't make sense. Regardless if it's motorized or not doesn't make it look any different to the objector, they hate them all. :) ;) In other words, with a permit in hand, your neighbor would have to back off.

Repeater v. Internet sharing and a high gain antenna.

Ok, so I am looking at ways to boost my WiFi reception at campgrounds and have three devices online at the same time with of course a minimum investment. I've boiled down my choices to repeaters and connection sharing over my Macintosh's Airport card both with some high gain antennas attached. There is almost too much information on the Internet to make a hasty decision. Out of the box repeater, router with DD-WRT hardware flash... etc. Here is my question. If I understand it correctly, a repeater will actually cut the throughput because it has to be receiving and sending. That said, if I attach a high gain antenna to the Mac (I would think one through the USB port) and share that signal through the Airport card, would I be getting less or more throughput than a repeater using the same antenna? In other words, is the basic principal the same? What say you hardware gurus? :) ;) I forgot to mention, with the Mac in absence of a WiFi signal, I could connect to my 3g cellphone and share that connection as well, right? I know there are routers that do that, but again the cost is more than I want to spend.

RE: Is your furnace noisy

The noise in ours was the blower squirrel cages. They were farther out on the motor shaft than they needed to be, allowing the shaft to go back and forth. I simply pushed the cages in toward the motor housing and it's been fine ever since. What Skip said was true in my case as well, the blower was quiet as a mouse until you put on the cover and made them "work". I thought I had fixed them the first time but was fooled. :) ;)

You must have some Fredericksburg Fudge while you are there. Especially their white chocolate caramel turtles made with cashews(Snappers) and boysenberry bark. Their website.

And old study, but answers some of the same questions raised in this thread. :) (Besides, it's your tax dollars at work) Diesel Idle Study on DOD Generators. The anti-idle legislation of today is primarily focused on pollution in the inner cities and fuel consumption. That is all... have fun with it. :) ;)

RE: Bleach smell in tanks

There's really very little water in the lines themselves, it's probably residual in the tanks. As said about all you can do is dilute it. Fill and drain the tanks (heater too) until the smell goes away, then fill and run water through the lines. Cheers !!!
