RE: Grand Haven Michigan State Park IMPOSSIBLE to Reserve

X2 on that is why I don't stay at state parks in Michigan. I have found private parks that are nicer for the same money or less.

RE: Air Compressor airing Class A 19.5 tires

As I have said before the tank is a waste of space and money. If you have to buy a compressor with a tank get rid of it. You don't need a tank to fill tires!!! You need at least 125 psig compressor. The higher the cfm at 125 psig the faster it will fill the tires.

MH doors ???

Why do DP's typically have the door in the front and gas MH's have the door in the middle?? It seems like there could be more floor plan options if the door was moved around.

RE: Typical Fuel Mileage You Get With Your Gas or Diesel Class A

Any one under 55 own a class A?

Maybe it is just me, in the RV clubs I belong to and the RV parks I visit Most Class A owners are OLD. By most I mean 99%. This has had an effect on membership in Clubs like FMCA and WIT. Are there any young folks out there?

don't understand DP steps

Why do most or at least a lot of DP's only have two steps at the door. I see a lot of them with 2 steps and a portable third step. Doesn't make sense to me.

RE: Another Blowout!

A friend of mine just pulled into the campground we are staying at. He had two blowouts with Goodyear's on the way here. Both tires were only three years old. He replaced all of them.

RE: Diesel vs gas, good video for those with that question!

rk911 Here is a simple way of looking at your power requirements. You said that your "stuff" was going to remain about the same weight in your present and proposed MH. You also said a rolling weight of your present MH was 19,000 pounds and had 305 HP. This means you will have 62 pounds per HP with your "stuff". Find out the bare weight of your proposed MH. It should be on the sticker. Add in the best guess for the weight of your stuff. Divide the weight by 362HP. If it is less than 62 pounds per HP you should have better performance. As I said earlier the 5 speed trans. will also help.

RE: Diesel vs gas, good video for those with that question!

You will not have any problem with the MH you are looking at. The 5 speed trans. will help a lot both going up and down grades. More torque is a good thing also. But what will really make the difference is more HP. It is the HP to weight ratio that gets things done faster in a MH. Like going up grades. The 60 more HP will really help, assuming the MH's weight about the same. This will cause posts from those who feel torque is the most important, and it is a good thing because more torque means more HP. I did design engines for 35 years so I do have first hand experience in this matter. You asked to keep this simple, so I did not go into the math behind these statements. I hope this helps.

side windows leak

Two of the windows on the side of my MH leak on the inside at the bottom during very, very heavy rains. I have cleaned the drain holes and even added additional drain holes. I have also caulked around the outside of the window. Again they only leak during very heavy rains, so is something causing the water to back up? Any ideas????

RE: Do you turn off your engine at the gas station?

I agree with chevor. This is stupid!!! The next time you fill up read the sign on the pump.

RE: do gassers offer anything like the DP engine brake

If crossing Teton pass, a 10% grade, with a 39ft MH and toad, counts there is no problem with a large gas MH. The grade brake is a big help. it saves the brakes going down. Plenty of power going up.
