RE: Best way to handle a late night knock on your door

I don't camp at truck stops or rest areas. I have a motion detector on my door light, a big dog and a 12 ga. I still feel saver at a camp ground!!!

RE: Looking for Michigan advice

I would go up the west side of the state to the bridge and then thru the UP to Wisconsin. this would avoid Chicago. I would look very hard a private parks along the west side of MI. I am a resident and often find them cheaper (and nicer) by the time all the fees for state parks are added in. I would go up US131, with a side trip around M22 to Mackinaw island, then to sault saint Marie and across the UP on US2, with a side trip to Munising and the pictured rocks.

Have slideout locks???

If you have slide out locks, make sure the drain hole is clear. Mine plugged up after 6 years. The drain hole his on the outside high on the slide out. It can be cleaned with a pipe cleaner.

RE: roof air failures

Donfromp, In answer to your questions, Both AC's were Dometic. One of the RV;s, a park model was purchased 2 or 3 weeks ago. The second RV, a travel trailer, was purchased 2 months ago.

RE: roof air failures

There is something bad going on!! We are wintering in FL. Just today 2 of my neighbors had their AC units fail. There were 2 different service trucks here at the than the same time. I think this could result in more failures than the refrig. problems. These failures are in addition to the ones in my pervious post, and just the ones I know about.

roof air failures

In just the last 3 months 7 of my friends have their roof air units fail. 4 of the RV's were new. Has there been a design change? Have any of you seen a similar situation? Seems weird to me.

RE: Ludington VS Sleeping Bear / Platte River Campground

I have stayed at all of the above campgrounds. For the best campground I would definitely recommend Poncho's pond in Ludington. If you want to stay in one place and see things from Ludington to Sleeping Bear I would recommend Little River casino campground just north of Manistee.

RE: How Do You Evaluate Floor Plans?

Simple, if my wife likes it, it is a good floor plan.

RE: If you had to buy again today...

We have a 40FT MH now, I would definitely look at a 38 to 40Ft 5th wheel. They have some great floor plans.

RE: direct tv

RE: Quality control issues-curiosity

A lot talk about the QC of MH manufactures, rightly so. However I believe a lot of the issues belong with the suppliers of components used by MH manufactures. Norcold and Dometic are good examples. Lets face it a lot of MH manufactures have to use the same suppliers, so have the same QC problems.

RE: Driver side wiper Goes too far to the left.

I also had the same problem on my two arm wiper. the mount inside the hood was loose. I placed the wiper in the correct place and applied a large amount of RV goop to the mount. So far it is working. Time will tell.

RE: The continuing saga of tire pressure...

My logic is to get the MH weighted and inflate the tires to the pressure the tire manufacture recommends. Has worked for me for 11 years and 80,000 miles.

RE: running DP's durining quiet hours

As I said in my post after being awakened 3 times I asked what the policy regarding running a DP before quiet hours were over a lot of campgrounds. Again over half of them said it violated the quiet hour rules. If this has got to be such an issue that it is effecting campground rules, I got to believe it is effecting more campers than just me. I do understand that a certain procedure must be followed starting a DP, having driven them. I just believe it could be done at 8 in the morning rather than 5 or 6 in most cases.
