RE: New TT, CO2 detector keeps going off?

Fans circulating the air will help with the condensation. This your first time using furnace? Not unusual for that alarm to go off - it should quit after several days of use. Other things about the CO2 - if something is covering it (a towel or sheet hanging over the side of the bench, etc.) it can give a false alarm, and spraying Lysol or bug spray around it can also set it off.

RE: solar panel?

For just a weekend and only to keep fridge going, your battery should be able to handle that without needing to be re-charged. If the gen wouldn't re-charge the battery, I'm thinking the problem is your battery. A weekend of fridge, lights in moderation, and water pump in moderation should be fine. Now if you start running a lot of things with motors - fans, furnaces, dvd, vcr, etc. - then you might drain your battery.

RE: Travel Trailer

Many of the wheeled add-on units are limited by their manufacturers to motorhome or fifth wheel trailers only- can't think of any that are sold for adding to bumper-pull trailers. I agree - but then I looked at the Idaho Tote above. It does not attach to the bumper, it welds to the frame. According to their web site, they can be used on TT.

RE: Know of beach front camping in SC?

Good luck getting a beach front site 2 days before a holiday weekend.

RE: Oakplantation vs Mt. Pleasant KOA in Charleston, SC

Commuting to Daniel Is is probably easier from James too. No. They have widened 17 in Mount Pleasant, so it would be quick to 526 to Daniel island. Stay at KOA for this event.

RE: Plugging in at home between trips

60 watt solar panel and 30 amp controller while at home. Two 6 volt sealed batteries, never have to worry about water.

RE: Solar power

... Pick a 12 volt nominal panel, and you could use a switch to turn it on the days you are camping, and turn it off the other days, not need to spend money on a solar controller. ... If you go that route, be careful to turn it off at night, as without a controller, a panel in the dark can draw backwards from the battery.

RE: Chevy or Ford

Simple - get a Ford and put a Cummins and Allison in it.

RE: NC mountains campsite recommendations

Davidson River CG near Brevard. National park, no hookups (one loop has electric, but you won't need A/C so you don't need it). Davidson River has trout. Plenty of hiking trails that go through CG.Sites are big, remote enough that cell almost doesn't work, yet only a few miles back to town for whatever you need. Blue Ridge Parkway only a few miles away. Already have two trips planned there this summer.

RE: Dumb Question re: outlets

Thanks for the quick response :) So if we stop at a rest area or Wally World for the night I guess I'm out of luck to make coffee in the morning lol I prefer using an old fashioned percolator, but Coleman does make a drip maker that sits on your gas stovetop - we have one and it works well.

RE: Trailer novice here, can you help me plug in my TT?

While you are buying cords - also get you one of these. That way if you are at a CG that has 50 amp, you can plug into it.

RE: Moving a small TT with this..

I have this: http://www.storenelson.com/img6.jpg It pushes and pulls my camper and boat around the yard. It will still bog down in grass if either one has sat for awhile. I'm skeptical that yours could handle grass. Mind you, what I got cost about $1200 - but it sure saves arguing with the wife putting the camper down the narrow side of the house to get to the back yard.

RE: Lessons we've learned over the years

Makes me VERY glad I have a TV with keyless entry. We keep all our TT keys locked inside the TV, 'cause we know we can always get to them when needed. My Excursion had that. Went out one cold morning to start it up, locked the doors, went back inside. After a few minutes went outside, keypad wasn't unlocking. Asked my son if he had tried to get in, he said yes, but he couldn't remember the number. Left it running while I took another vehicle to my daughter's soccer game. Got home a couple of hours later, it's still running, but however long the lockout was from his repeated failed attempts, it worked again.

RE: New Tent trailer owner:) just looking for advice and tips

You need these - I had them on my Hybrid and they made a big difference. They also help cut down on condensation from the canvas roofs (in conjunction with some fans circulating the air).

RE: Lessons we've learned over the years

Make sure TV antennae is down before leaving the campground, fortunately nothing damaged, Twice I've chased people down that left their antennas up - coincidentally, they were both in FW's.

RE: looking to upgrade from hybrid to hard sided for room...

One thing to consider - when we had our HTT, we could open windows on all 4 sides, and get a breeze no matter what. Now with the TT, we only got windows on two sides, and have to run battery fans in the summer now (summertime we always go where there are no hook ups). Those fans (two of them) take 8 D's (each) and they will not last 3 nights. It's hard to find a TT with a front window anymore (too many say they leak), but I see where some of the slide-outs have windows on 3 sides, so that may help (our slide doesn't).
