RE: Camper Slides Forward When Unhitching

You could get a rubber mallet and hammer your chocks snug on either side of the tt tires. Or you could get some metal x-chocks for tandem axle that will secure your rv.

RE: Feeling really foolish!

I christened the camper this past weekend myself. Except that I backed over a reinforced STOP sign post in a parking lot. This was bad enough but the fact that my DW just minutes before the mishap asked me if I wanted Ber out back to watch me back up and I said No, was the real nail in my coffin. She's not going to let me live that one down for a little while.
The dw will keep my mishap tucked away for another day I'm sure! I cannot complain too much, she's been with me for almost 31 years.

RE: Feeling really foolish!

I did it about 10 years ago. That is why I have my bed saver on my Curt Q 5 now. 200.00 for the bed saver or 1000. 00 plus later down the road for damage to truck and trailer. Sorry to hear of your mishap.
I ordered the Blue Ox BedSaver from Amazon and should be here tomorrow. I would rather have it in case there is a "next" time. :S
Got my order on Thursday and attempted to install it that night. Only problem is the BXR4500 does not fit my Pullrite 16K hitch. This was the model number that Blue Ox says would fit, but not so. I contacted Blue Ox and even sent sent pics of what I have. So far no answer as to what model would fit. Foe now the BXR4500 goes back to Amazon for a refund.
I called Blue Ox and gave them the measurements of my Pullrite 16K hitch. They recommended a BXR4504 as the Bed Saver that would fit. I found the best price on Amazon had it delivered in a few days. I installed it this past Saturday and it and looks great. Here's hoping that I will never need it! :W

RE: Pyrometer and diesel trucks

I have a 2006 Dodge 2500 with the CTD, since I will be towing my boat (boat and trailer are about 3200 pounds) and the campers about 2600 pounds I was wondering should I install a Pyrometer. Here in the Northwest I will be traveling over the mountain passes so I'm interested does anyone else have these gauges?
I have a set of EGT(pyrometer), tranny temp, and boost gauges. It is nice to see what is happening when you tow heavy like I do. When I pull off at rest areas, I watch the egt temps until they are less than 300 degress before I shut off the engine. Just my .02 worth.

RE: hot water heater

Go outside and open the water heater access panel. There you should find the manufacture and model number. Then go online and download the manual for your particular model. Also, contact Bigfoot and ask them who in your local area is approved for warranty work.

RE: RV Kayak Rack on 5th wheel

I am curious if anyone uses or has used one of the Kayak Racks from RVkayakrack.com. We are almost ready to pull the trigger on a 5th wheel, and we would like to bring our Kayaks along on trips. We know this method would not work for my wife's sea kayak, but it looks like our 12 ft and 13 ft kayaks would be ok.
The RV we are looking at comes with a receiver hitch standard (3000lb tow ). However, I am not sure how the load will act driving down a highway at 60mph pivoting on a 2" receiver hitch.
Thanks,
OJ

I ordered this rack last year for my fiver. I must say it is a very well built unit and heavy. I ordered the one that carries the kayaks and our bikes. I only wished that the rack was made out of aluminum instead of steel tubing.

Feeling really foolish!

Friday the dw and I headed out to one of our favorite rv parks about 30 miles from home. Just to get away for the weekend and enjoy the first trip of season . The 30 mile trip took us over two hours because of traffic from spring break. When we arrived I was frazzled and beat from the stop and go traffic. Needless to say I was out of sync getting the rig setup and forgot one import step. The front landing gear was still up. When I released the hitch and pulled forward I was quickly reminded of my mistake!. I quickly lowered the landing gear and accessed the damaged. Just a few scratches on the rv and some indentations on the top bed rails of the truck. This could have been much worse and has taught me a valuable lesson. Stick to my check list. Still feeling foolish though. :o

Trav'ler Dish satellite question

We are thinking of the Trav'ler satellite system with Dish. In looking at the receivers, I would really like to have two tuners with at least one dvr. Is this possible with the Trav'ler? Our Alpine is prewired for satellite already and would like to access from both of the tvs.

We removed our factory mattress and install a sleep number queen. We have one at home and love the comfort. They are more expensive, but worth it for a good nights sleep.

RE: Saving power pulling fuses.

I recently purchased a 2013 Springdale 232. We ordered it with the 12volt entertainment system which includes the stereo and a TV. The stereo has an LCD panel that stays on all the time. When it is in storage the batteries will discharge way to fast so I was thinking the LCD panel was part of the problem. I was thinking of pulling the fuse that runs the entertainment system to keep that from being a constant draw. I have the WFCO converter in the trailer, is there any problem with having a fuse out with power to the converter. The reason I ask is a small light comes on next to the fuse location once the fuse has been pulled. My old trailer didn’t have this converter. I know I can just disconnect the batts, but I have a small solar panel that trickles the batteries and is suppose to keep them charged during storage. At this time it doesn’t keep up so I am trying to eliminate draws on the batteries.
Why not install a battery disconnect switch? Your lp detector is hard wired also and draws 12 volt power.
