RE: Great site for Truck Stops & Walmarts

Can't find any walmarts in Chula Vista. I know they have 2 Maybe because you cannot overnight there?
There are now three in Chula Vista. It's a city ordnance that you can't camp in them overnight. Also stay out of the one on Dennery Rd. in San Diego also the one on College Ave in San Diego.

RE: Solar Charging

Before you jump get some prices. Solar is great but expensive. I have 3 100w Panels, 6 Interstate U2200 Battery's also a Prosine 2.0 Inverter. Took me just under 2 years to afford to have it all installed.
I would recommend you look here.
They still know the meaning of the words customer service.

RE: fall color "backyard" camp - Laguna Mtn Rec. Area

Lark Canyon & Cottonwood are in the McCain Valley area. BLM also allows dispersed camping in some areas. There may be safety issues and Border Patrol activity; I don't want to go on record recommending dispersed camping in eastern SD County even though I do it everywhere else.
http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/elcentro/recreation/camping.html
Sweetwater Summit campground, which BTW is being doubled in size, is a county park.
http://www.sdcounty.ca.gov/parks/Camping/info.html
We have been to Lark Canyon in Mc Cain Valley. Also to Sweetwater Summit park. I am glad they are finally going to enlarge it.

RE: fall color "backyard" camp - Laguna Mtn Rec. Area

San Diego County is full of public land campgrounds: state parks, county parks, BLM parks, USFS parks. I really ought to visit more of them.
Tiger
What BLM Campgrounds? I think there are maybe 1 or 2 out in Mc Cain Valley? I don't know of anymore in San Diego County. I also am not familiar with others, Oh maybe Sweetwater Summit Park.

RE: Personal safety while boondocking

If I thought I had to carry a weapon to safely boondock, I wouldn't do it. Criminals stay where the most unoccupied houses are - they don't go looking for remote RVs to burglarize.
Now, whether a person FEELS safe is another story.
Weapons posts in boondocking
I agree with the above statement.

RE: fall color "backyard" camp - Laguna Mtn Rec. Area

Tiger & W6pea
There is another little campground in San Diego County that you might like to check out. Cibbets Flat it is easy to get to, only 4+ miles off of I-8. If you are able to go out mid week you most likely will have the place to yourself!
Campground: Descanso Ranger District, Cibbets Flat Campground
Description: 4200-foot elevation. 25 campsites. Hiking on the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail. Location: East of San Diego on I-8, exit at Kitchen Canyon / Cameron Station Road & go north about 4.5 miles.
Thank you for the info.

RE: Does Insulin Require a Prescription?

Hey, everybody. My husband was recently diagnosed as an insulin-dependent diabetic, and we're planning to hit the road fulltime in about a month. Here in Ontario, insulin is available without a prescription. We'll be travelling through the US, and other parts of Canada, and I'm wondering if insulin can be had without a scrip in most places, or should we get his doctor to write him up one. As insulin only keeps about a month, we can't stock up ahead.
I just talked to the Pharmacy that I get my Diabetic supplies from...they told me that in California you need a prescription to get the insulin from a US Doctor. If he is using NPH insulin he can buy it OTC, if it's Novolog Humalog Lantus for example he does need a prescription. Here is the odd part the syringes, needles he can buy OTC.
Also Insulin if refrigerated will keep for as long as the expiration date on the bottle.

Will you please tell us where this campground is? We live in SD County also and this looks like a nice place. We mainly do boondocking so services are not necessary.
Thanks, Evelyn

RE: What kind of ladder do you guys carry

The Werner telecope, I carry and have used it at least once on every trip. You must insure the locks are setted when using is as a A-frame.
How small does it fold down to for storage ?

I bought a Little Giant and it won't fit in any of my storage compartments and it must weight 100lbs.

RE: CPAP masks

Looks like there maybe a CPAP for me in the near future. I usually wear a mustache and sometimes a full beard. Is there a mask that will accommodate facial hair?
Paul
Paul
I have a full beard and a mustache I use a Swift II nasal pillow. I also have Comfort Gel mask as a back up I prefer the Swift look here

RE: Battery box

I will probably get flamed for this answer but here goes. I have a Carson Highway Hauler Cargo Trailer The battery box is not bolted down it's held down with a strap. As for water being in the box :h I would say maybe you should drill a couple of holes in the bottom of it. :S
Flame on guys.

RE: Motorhome Makers: Heads Up!

We just got back from a drive to FL and back - and my one gripe with our 28' "C" with no slides is the bathroom: specifically, the fact that the toilet sits wedged between the wall and vanity. I will put this is delicately as possible, but Hubby (skinny tall guy with long arms) prefers the campground restrooms because the simple act of "wiping" is so difficult in ours....
My neighbor, who has a different brand of 28' C, has the same problem.
That sounds about right must be a Fleetwood. Sounds exactly like our "bathroom" in our Jamboree 26Q

RE: Seneca (Kodiak) Valve Stems

Good information
I got a product brochure in the mail from a company and I think it was called Cat's Eye. For the life of me I can't find it when I want it,but you can rest assured when I'm not looking for it I will find it.
