RE: 10 Worst States for Retirement!

Funny, I googled 10 worst states for retirement and came across several articles, with a different list of states. Take it for a grain of salt. Maine and Oregon are on my favorites list. Clean air, low crime rate. So you got to buy a coat and stock up on fire wood..:W

RE: Hybrid Seasonal Tips/Tricks?

Put on the PUG,s and leave em open, As long as weather and safety are not a concern. Take the PUG,s off once a month to clean the canvas. Have fun. Folding the tent ends up is a great option, but there is always going to be that rainy day when you cant fold em up dry. I have seen it done, but the canvas looked rough and obviously not maintaned. Happy camping.

RE: A problem I never knew existed.

There is in fact ONE place I require a Campsite to face a certian direction. And if it does not. I don't stay. At the beach. My main requirement is that the door, and awning side, face the ocean. Why, you ask? Well I'll tell you. On the East coast, If you face the ocean, You get afternoon shade under the awning. You get sun if you face the other way. You also get the best ocean breeze, The sun come up, and wakes you as well. To us, that is a plus. To others maybe not. With the awning on the beach side, I can sit, and watch the nightly parades on Ocean Drive. I can also sit there and listen to the waves break on shore. To y'all, those may not be good reasons to require a ocean facing site. But to us they are, and as it's my money I'm spending. I get what I want. Now as to camping in the mountians. I really don't care which way it points. X2

RE: KOA Reservations vs what you get when you arrive

Surely no one would notice your "55 foot" trailer is really only 30 feet long. Don't really care what 'other' people notice. I pay for a pull thru site. What I put into it is of no ones' business and that goes for the CG mgr also. You don't pay by the foot for pull thru sites. A pull thru is a pull thru. Because CG's do tend to use the squeeze factor I "always' add several feet to my over length to 'ensure' I will fit. The CG gets its 30 bucks whether there is a Prevost on the site or a TT. When I am pulling off the road for just the night I don't have the time or patience to screw around with a pull thru that I don't fit in period. X2 I have tended to lie a bit also. I want the best I can get and I like space. I am paying the same as someone with a 40 footer. I dont care about a Campground wanting to squeeze you into smaller sites to get the place as full as possible. Its my time off, what little I get and it matters to me. When I had the TT (22 footer), I would reserve that I had a 40 footer so I could stay hooked up for those 1 nighters. The neighbors appreciated it also when all I had to do was pull in and hook up the power cord, especially late evenings

RE: pay cash or not

Personally, If I were buying new, I would finance it and make payments for a year or when the warranty expires, then pay it off. I would want to make sure I like the rig and dont have any major issues with it. The last thing I would want is to find out I paid in full on a lemon. Having the finance company in your corner can help if you have warranty issues. It did for me. I would guess the fiance company wouldn't give a darn about your coach...they are only interested in getting the payment... I know by experience they give a darn. I bought new in 2006 and it was clearly a lemon. The dealer was dragging thier feet making repairs. When I contacted the finance company regarding my concerns, they were helpful, especially when I told them this POS trailer was going to be thiers. :) They helped by contacting the dealer to push them on making warranty repairs. it is amazing what a few certified letters can do. Please publish the name of your "finance company". I feel there are many here that want to contact them for help. We read a post from someone everyday about the troubles they are having with the dealers on warrenty issues. It's great the "finance companies" are getting into the business of customer support. Yep..Find something out every day...Would be glad to know that name as well...Please let us know...and thanks PNC Bank. They went to bat for me with my new house back in 1992 and my RV in 2006. Regarding the RV, they worked with me contacting the dealer and the RV manufacturer. In fact, the RV manufacturer transported the RV bact to the factory and even came to my house to do final repairs. Banks have better lawyers than I do.

RE: Should I buy my first TT in the winter?

I always bought during the winter time. All were outside. They always had something in the shop.I requested they had power hooked up to it and the furnace and fridge on about an hour prior to my arrival. I was able to check everything out. I would just turn the water heater on for about 10 seconds to make sure it would light. Check the stove, oven and even turn on the AC to make sure the compressor kicked on.I made sure they had the syphon setup for winterizing and would hook up a gallon jug of antifreeze so I could check the pump, pressurize the system, and check all the faucets, shower and toilet. That way I also know everything is winterized properly. This way I could check things out without using water, especially on a very cold day.

RE: just really don't believe this can this be really happening

I have had the same thing happen to me on occasion. I have taken a survey and my findings were these people never heard of RV Net, Woodalls, Good Sams, etc. I always tell them to log on, its free, and a great place to get info regarding RVing. That way they can log on and read about themselves here and maybe learn not to be dum dums. :)

RE: Expandable in Cold Weather

I used to own a Fleetwood Orbit HTT. It would stay pretty warm with the beds closed. You will need a site with electric hookups and it would be nice to have a heated bath house close by. If you wish to camp without electric hookups, you might be able to get 6 nights out of your 2 propane tanks if you only use it for heat at night. Your water heater will use up quite a bit also. You will have to have quite a bit of gasoline in order to run your genny all day, every day, to run the electric heaters. I have been there and done it, on the east coast(Assateague Nat. Seashore) with temps in the 20,s at night. It got old real quick for the kids not having electric and we were done by the third day. Even a very quiet genny will drive you crazy in a couple of days.

RE: Ocean Lakes June 22 - July 6, 2013

The 4000 section is perfect that time of year. Have a great time. I was scheduled to be down there next week for 9 days, but had to cancel. It would have been my 8th Christmas down there.:( Ocean Lakes is fun any time of year.

RE: space heaters

I run 2 in mine without any problem as long as I dont plug both in on the same circuit. Usually the back one on high and the front on low. Going 2 years on Walmart el cheapo ones and going strong. I will turn one off if I use the microwave.
