RE: 97 Coachman Class C

We bought a 99 Coachmen Class C with a Ford Chassis is 2010. It had very low miles, and was also immaculate. We have to this point, had no trouble with it and are very happy with it in all aspects. Perhaps we were very lucky, because it was everything others say to stay away from.

RE: Lantern

We use the collapsible Coleman LED lantern we bought at Wal Mart. It is bright and collapses down nice for storage.

RE: Opinions needed

Don't let buying a class C deter you from taking your Harley. We use a covered trailer and tow the bikes with the class C. We find it works great and is easier to load than a toy hauler, as the trailer floor height is lower. If you have to have a toad it might as well be fun!

RE: Tire Covers

I have had double covers for five years. I also use a bungee cord to hold them on, as wind will remove them regularly. I plan to get singles the next time as I find crawling around the ground to use the bungee cord a pain. (this is on my M/C trailer)

RE: Flagler Beach to Fort Myers Beach

I would reccomend going to Bonita Springs and coming back north. It will be really jammed up at the bridge and as you start south you are going through the heart of the tourist area. It may be slow coming north also but in my opinion it is the better way. Your other option would be to hit it VERY early in the morning going over the bridge.

RE: Consumer Cellular service

We tried it based on the claim that it used AT&T towers. They were horribly slow to get us up and running, only for us to find that we could get no reception even at our home. We inquired and they told us we were 26 miles from their nearest tower and service might be spotty. We live between two major freeways and have never had a problem with our current carrier. They were even worse to get disconnected from. We do however have friends who have had good luck with it, which is why we tried it.

RE: Miles per day/hours on the road

You need to take into consideration, that you don't break camp and get ready to leave as you would in a motel, It takes time and even if you don't hook up, we still find we don't leave as early as we might from a hotel. We spent a week in Yellowstone there is a lot to see and do.

Make sure to pick up the cab over bed and check for mold and signs of leaks/rot.

RE: Curtain Pattern for a Class C Ford

I would also vote for the outside cover. It also helps reduce heat in the summer by reducing sun coming through the windshield

RE: Cruise Control - He didn't do that did he?

Jeff Daniels is an ACTOR and he knows how to make magic with a camera. It's a stunt just like in the movies. I think it is great that he promotes RVing and that he travels in that RV,driving it himself!

RE: Route Advice MI to SC

I came back from Florida this year on 77. NB it definitely has steeper grades than 75. SB didn't look much better, In the future I will stay on 75.

RE: fenders on tow dolly

You can put thin aluminum sheeting on the back side and pop rivet it in place. Worked on mine after a blown tire.

RE: 1968-73 Holiday Ramblers

My parents owned HR's in the 60-80's.There were at least 3 levels with vacationer being the least expensive and the Rambler or President being the better levels as I recall. With two doors you are probably looking at one of the better models. If it still has the Map of America on the trim the model name should appear there. As for narrowing down the year as said a picture will help as they made some major design changes in the 70's Also they used to have an owners club, don't knoe if they are still around but hose folks could probably help.

RE: Winnebago Vista 35F oil change & lube question

Regarding your comment on the oil from the ford dealer. My dealer ONLY uses the blended oil and will do oil changes cheaper than the quick change places that charge extra for the blended oil.So it may not indicate it was the Blended semi synthetic. I would call the dealer and ask. My V-10 also takes a little more than the prescribed 6 qts with filter

RE: Trying To Decide On A Trailer Surge Protector - Need Advice

We use a 30 amp TRC and I like the test mode it goes through prior to supplying power t my MH.Then the LED screen shows you the voltage level being supplied. I have had good luck with it. If you watch you may find a sale at the RV shows, I did.

RE: Headlight Lenses

There is a product sold at motorcycle shops called Novus, it is for taking scratches out. It comes in 3 levels. I used #2 and it worked well to clean lenses, #3 is for heavier scratches. They are good products and sell for about 4-5 dollars a bottle.

RE: stehl tow dolly questions-Help!

I,m not clear what you mean- why won't it go on? If the front end of the car is hitting the tow dolly, put some pices of 2x6 under the ramps. If one doesn't work stack two. Make the bottom board 2 or 3 ft long, second can be shorter.
