RE: Snowriver 810

The Snowriver 810 had something different about the waste tanks, do the black and gray go into the same tank? Maybe someone can remember....

RE: center of gravity question

I'll have an extra storage area between the cab and the TC. As above, this is a positive development for you, just make a proper storage area in front of the camper and fill it with all your heavy gear, jacks, shovels, anything with weight, we already do this with our little 8.5 camper and works great, you can never have enough storage on a TC Rig. The storage weight will counter act the COG offset...

RE: Northstar quality?

Here is a video you can watch them being made and make up your mind.Northstar Construction No problems with our cabinets, really nice workmanship and materials. Any Northstar questions just call them and talk with the boss directly. I have never had any question not answered within a day. They would probably custom build your cabinets out of any material you wanted.

RE: Good and bad news about New Brunswick Prov Parks

With your lovely Sprinter I would not worry about getting some place to stay around most of the Maritimes, just pull over and sleep anywhere you like.

RE: camping along Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia

ripalot is right, about 20 Deg. cooler out there This is a good thing to remember when visiting Nova Scotia, anytime you get too hot inland or in some area where the wind is coming off the land, move your location to some place on the map where the wind is blowing in off the Atlantic ocean. It is like turning on your air conditioner with no power bill...also easy to sleep at night, and bring sweaters... In a space of 2 or 3 miles you can go from 30C to 17 C in a few minutes...

RE: Automotive GPS suggestion

Did any of the manufacturers come up with a way of fastening the gps to the dash of your truck, besides those rubber suction things that just fall off sending your new unit flying across the cab...

RE: Engine Block Heater/Grill Cover Needed?

To start our diesels easily here in the cold we just lower the 1st number of the engine oil to the appropriate temperature range. eg. 15W40 goes to a 5W40.. or even 0W40, no molasses to turn over...

RE: Happijac lubrication

Hi Jim... I was also wondering what instructions they gave Devildog, I did mine the way you showed me and it worked very well... There was talk that the company would not give our the instructions due to so called liability issues...

RE: Happijac lubrication

Happi jack sent me the pictures and instructions my jacks worked better than new afterwards the only thing I did different was I used marine grease inside the jacks I also found that the big zip top food storage bags fit nicely over the jacks and stayed in place while the camper was stored I assume the manufacturer pictures and instructions are detailed, how do the company procedures compare to the procedures used here on the forum for disassembly and lubrication of the jacks.

RE: trip advice for travel to Maine, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia

You can stay right in the middle of Lunenburg and then just walk down over the hill from the campground to the waterfront area where all the action is... http://www.lunenburgns.com/details/lunenburg-board-of-trade-campground.html Lunenburg town campground This way you will not have to worry about parking a big rig downtown near the attractions, it is a really nice place to visit and lots to see and do...

RE: automatic vs manual transmission

We had an automatic 13 speed in one of our Class A trucks, the transmission worked wonderful when it was working, when it had problems very few places could troubleshoot and repair the thing for a reasonable amount of time and money. The dealer was completely useless. This is the most serious problem of all this type of equipment, engines included, who is going to fix it in an efficient manner for a reasonable expense when you have a break down, and it will breakdown, for sure....

RE: 19.5 inch tires - ride reports ?

With the commercial 19.5 truck tires/wheels we have in the signature I find the truck rides more like a truck than the car like ride with LT tires. The handling is different and the tread we have is very noisy. We need this tread for the winter here. However it is well worth the peace of mind we get with the heavy load ratings on these tires, they should also last twice as long and then we can retread the casings... They have very strong sidewalls for protection from rocks... They are also very heavy, no one seems to know what effect that has on front end components when crashing thru pot holes etc...

RE: Northstar Adventurer 8.5 Rear Awning

You should give the boss a call, he will tell you everything you need to know or send you an e-mail..They have a Carefree Freedom on the side of our Arrow. They will even send you one of the type they use at the factory for most anything. Usually get a response from them in less than 24 hours...

RE: Hello, Weight Police...Thoughts?

6.7 came stock with an exhaust brake...LOVE IT!!! I've been driving semi's since 1973. How does the Dodge Exhaust brake compare to the real Jake brakes on the Class 8 trucks??? Thanks

RE: 3rd generation Dodge 3/4 or 1 ton airlift 5000 install

Hey Hammer..Already installed a extra leaf spring and 1 ton Helwig swaybar..took pic in front of Helwig swaybar. How did the sway bar work? Did you notice much difference in the handling, also did it get in the way of your spare tire? Thanks

RE: Aluminum Flatbed Tie Downs?

We always had flatbeds built like this one: Rub Rail.. You just put your chain/tiedown hook up thru hook it and winch it tight...you can even buy little strap winches that hook on... Provides multiple options for side board styles and tie downs.. Maybe they could put a rub rail on your bed, it should have been built like that in the first place.

RE: Campfires: Love them or hate them?

No thanks, we burn wood to heat the house all winter, it is a relief when the season arrives to have nothing to do with wood and smoke, ashes, chainsaws etc... It one of the major reasons we try to avoid "camp" grounds..

RE: What do I need to boondock in my travel trailer?

Try some Freeze Dried food, we use it a lot, this takes any concern over your fridge out of the equation. You can buy anything Freeze dried that you put in your fridge. Low weight, store most anyplace, just add water. Too much emphasis is put on keeping your fridge running at all cost.. You don't really need it... Frozen with no fridge...
