RE: Seaside RV in Ormond Beach FL

I'd suggest Gamble Rogers SRA, just up the road south of Flagler Beach.

RE: Kirk Creek Campground

Kirk Creek was one of the nicest spots we stayed on our Round-the-USA tour last year - we really enjoyed ourselves there. You can find some pix of sites here.
Enjoy your stay - I'd love to be back there.

RE: Old-style Stick-on States Map?

Thanks for the info, everyone. I had looked on eBay with no luck last week, but someone has some now. I plan to mount it on a piece of plexiglass that will be mounted on the inside of the door with velcro. It can be seen only when the door is open.

RE: Locating a State Park using MS Street and Trips

For the past year I've been compiling information on all public campgrounds in the US. On my web site you can download three Excel spreadsheets, one each for Eastern, Central and Western US. These can be converted into various POI formats for use in many different GPS systems. For MS S&T, you can import the data directly from the Excel files.
I've attempted to gather as much data as I can for all federal (NPS, USFS, COE, TVA, BLM etc), state parks, county and city parks, and others such as water districts and utility companies. In addition to location, I've included information as to whether the park has hookups, dump station and showers, as well as the nearest town and fees.
The Eastern and Central files are the most current ones, I'm working on the Western US now.

Old-style Stick-on States Map?

Does anyone know of a source for the original stick-on states map, the one with the solid-colored states? So far, my internet search has come up with nothing.
The newer version stinks - from more than a view feet away, it's hard to see what's filled in.
Thanks,
Ted H.

RE: edisto beach/hunting island

We prefer Edisto....in the beach-front CG. The loop at the end is open and sunny, very pleasant when we're there in cooler weather. You can take a look a look at some pix and comments at:

RE: Big Meadows Campground / Shenandoah Nat. Park

The Lodge at Big Meadows has a full-service dining room that we enjoy when we've stopped there. But I agree with Harry - we like Loft Mt better. You can check out some pix and comments on both campgrounds at my web site:

Just click on "CG & camping info" in the menu on the left.
Have a great trip.

Has anyone else had difficulties accessing either of these web sites for the past three days? My emails to their webmaster have gone unanswered. Just curious.

RE: Lazydaze and wood problems

Frank,
You'll find that there is wood in just about any RV. LD does an incredible job of sealing their rigs and moisture is very rarely a problem. We're on our 2nd LD and continue to be impressed with their construction.

RE: What did you do to your Class C MH today???

Hard-wired in a TRC Model 34520 surge protector and replaced the old single-stage Parallax/Magnetek 7345 converter/charger with a Progressive Dynamics PD4600 series three-stage charger.

RE: photos of Edisto?

From what I recall, #10 is a well-shaded site, just behind the dunes with the beach just beyond. You'll be about midway between beach access points and not too far from the bathhouse. Just watch the tree branches on the way in - clearance is pretty tight. Enjoy your stay!

"No slides puts you in a resale situation where about 90+ percent of the buyers won't even look at the coach. Yea there's guys who say slides are not needed but who honestly has had slides and gone back. Amazing that Lazy Daze still has their head in the sand."
I had no problem selling my '02 LD earlier this summer, after being a larger '05, sight-unseen.
A lot of folks want slides, some of us do not. To each his own. LD is still selling RV's without any problems, filling a niche market. I don't think that means they have their head in the sand! I am quite happy with no slides and I appreciate the incredible quality of an LD.

RE: How did your first rv trip go?

We flew from MD to CA to pick up our first Class C, a shiny new 23.5' Lazy daze, at the factory. We had shipped out to the factory about 7 boxes of "stuff" ahead of time. We took 6 weeks to get back to MD, with no problems whatsoever. Used that rig over 1300 nights before selling it this summer and buying a used '05 26.5 Lazy Daze....sight unseen! Just got back with it after a month in Nova Scotia, and again, not a single problem.

RE: Upside Down Dish Mount- Measured Drawerings?

You might want to consider using only three legs, instead of four. I found that's a lot more stable on un-even ground. Pictures here.

RE: Where's everyone camping for Thanksgiving?

Not sure yet - we'll be on the road starting 13 November, heading south from New England for the winter. Last year we were at Twin Lakes COE near Clemson SC for Thanksgiving week. This year probably either Camp Lejuene or Kings Bay Sub Base.

RE: Corp of Engineers CG

"But the COE website doesn't differentiate between state and local campgrounds on COE lakes, and actual COE campgrounds."
Not sure which site you're looking at, but if you go to the Corps Lakes Gateway site and then select any lake, the resulting lists of recreational areas do differentiate between COE and non-COE facilities.
