Any body spend the winter in Alabama

Howdy all, this is our first year as full timers and are looking to spend the winter in southern Alabama. My mother in law is in a nurseing home here in northern Indiana and if she passes over I will have to drive back up to take care of things. So I figure that southern Ala. is far enough not to be too cold in the winter and still close enough to drive back if I have too. So any ideas about winter in Ala.:@

RE: Delima on new tires

Just a thought, use light truck tires instead of trailer tires. They are made better and will last longer. Just a thought:)

RE: trouble on our first long distance trip.

Well we think we have everything figured out. A few child locks on the cabinets and a tug on the fridge to make sure that the door is locked. I hav e been more careful in the turns with the trailer and taking things a little slower so everything is going better. I first started pulling many years ago with a short 6 feet trailer. As everyone knows a short wheel base trailer will jack knive in a heart beat when backing up. I can back up with the best of them. But I forgot about how long this trailer is when turning. (30foot) And the fact that my diesel truck pulls the trailer so easy I forgot it was as big as it was. Oh well the trailer got fixed for $453 and change and the insurance paid me back $203 so I was not hurt too bad.

trouble on our first long distance trip.

Our first long distance trip staeted out with lotd of trouble.:( Our first trip was from nappenee indiana to Mount Rushmore. First i cut a corner too tight in a filling station and caught our dump values on a stand pipe and broke them off. Then when we got ready to stop for the night when we opened the trailer, the cabinets had come open and the dishes where busted up all over the place. The fridge came open and food out all over the place. So the trailer was unlivable. So I drove straight thru to our Custer SD found a repair shop who had to put our drain lines back together. Then on to our campground where we spent the next few hours cleaning up the mess in the trailer. Then finally after more hours awake than I can count I was finally able to take a shower and get some sleep. Now before we pull out again I have to figure out a way to better secure the cabinets. Sure do not want to have clean that mess up again.
