RE: Looks like the new Ram HD can tow, but can it Haul?

5500 uses 19.5 inch wheels and tires. Tires can easily handle 4500 lbs each. So with dialog your looking at 18k for back axle Tires will not be the weakest point

I would try it stock first. Then go with tours lifts if you feel you need them.

With bunks, that going to be the problem. My zephyr sleeps 8, but thats with 3 queen beds and 1 king. Most kids want their own bed.

RE: On used MH: how much mileage is too much?

Bottom line it comes down to education. How much do buyers now about RV's.
From what I see most new buyers don't know squat.

RE: Make & Model Advice (Purchase)

For what it's worth, I did a 0-60 test and it took 45 seconds and 65 at 52seconds. This was at 45K lbs, 70 degrees and at sea level.
Exe/Dennis, what abou posting a 0-60 test or anyone else with 500HP and 45K lbs?
I would love to, but my coach is in storage and I am at work.

RE: Truck Camper Recommendations and Advice?

AS soon as I saw "Tacoma was rock solid" I knew it was April fools Good one.I'm a complete newbie to trucks and truck campers. I've got a budget of $22,000 (financed) for the vehicle and camper.
I heard the Tacoma was rock solid reliable so I'm going with that. Possibly a 2nd generation, manual transmission, with access cab (since I'll be infrequently hauling people on my travels).
Something like this:
http://www.kbb.com/cars-for-sale/details/?listingid=342281660&totalresults=15&index=4&searchtype=used&atcmake=toyota&atcmodel=tacoma&abletoexpandyear=false&bodystyle=trucks&color=blue%7cred%7csilver%7ctan%7cwhite&drive=4wd&keyword=access&transmission=manual&pricerange=0-16000&year=2005-2014&distance=none&p=1&s=distanceasc
I'm totally new to campers. I'm looking for one that:
1. The Tacoma can take - apparently the Tacomas don't have much payload capacity?
2. Has a bathroom - shower and toilet, indoors
3. Gas stove.
4. Doesn't kill the gas mileage too badly.
5. I don't want a tent camper.
6. I don't know much about how the, ah, water and bathroom facilities work on a camper. I won't have real hookups in 3rd world countries, so I'll have to replenish the water by dumping it in with a bucket or a hose. And I'll have to get rid of the liquid and solid waste by dumping it out as well - no vacuum hose or anything. I have no idea if this kind of system is standard or if it isn't.
7. Will I destroy the water lines if I take this thing skiing in winter?
8. What size skis do I need for a Tacoma with camper?

They build what sells. Good or bad, that is the way it is. I did laugh quite a bit while reading though.

RE: Was there a 325-330 HP C8.3??

I had a 330 8.3 in a 2000 escaper. Electronic and it gave me zero issues for 65k miles. Only sold it because the kids got to big to sleep on the love seat. Took it to Alaska and back, loved that coach.

RE: ford v10, year to year changes

So, it looks to me that I need to find a E4500 that is 2004 or newer, chassis year that is. Probably a 05 or newer C. Hopefully that would take care of any spark plug issues. Any other issues to look for?
