We are going to Disneyworld and camp at Fort Wildnerness . We have a 36 ft 5ver triple slide. Can not tow our golf cart unless we take another vehicle. Is a golf cart necessary due to size of park. Would also apprecriate any tips for staying in park. We did not get a preferred site with cable or near boat landing instead choose to ask for 1700 loop/ Hope we did not make a costly mistake.
Also if we ride our bikes to boat landing to go out of camp would we need to lock them ? Thanks for any info.

Hello,if you have a golf cart it would be great to
have their because it`s a large park.At least have your bikes, and bring locks for them wouldn`t
trust leaving them anywhere. You can rent the golf carts but the line for them is very long ,you have to wait for people to bring them in one at a time. It`s getting real hot here in Fl. so think of ways to stay cool. Also I hope you didn`t get a corner site because the transport busses run all night long,it`s hard to get sleep it happened to me one time.Another tip bring enough supplys because the little store prices are super high!! and it takes a long time to get in and out of the park
going thru all the gates and such. It`s a great park just wish you could bring the golf cart,my family had a much better time when we rented the golf cart the one time. Also if you want to do something free we took the boat ride to the Disney
gates and back to the park a couple times the kids loved it.Well I hope some of this helps you
have a great time!

To get around inside the actual campground, you can use their free shuttle busses. The bus can take you to the boat that will get you to the amusement part of the park. Just watch the time as the boat only shuttles up to a particular hour at night. You can rent a golf cart for around $45.00 per day. We rented one only because we let the kids go to the amusement park, while hubby and me played in the campground all day. But, you cannot take them outside of the campground.

As the above post indicated, do take food with you. They do have a nice buffet inside the campground.

At night, definately go to the beach area and see the fireworks inside the campground.

You'll have a great time.

We have stayed there on many occasians and never really saw the need for a golf cart. Physical limitations may one day change our mind and you will sweat some this time of year. The walking along the tree lined streets is pleasant but you do have to watch out for golf carts especially after dark when they are mainly being driven by teenagers.

We stayed at Ft Wilderness on our Honeymoon. Had a great time for a couple of old codgers. Very enjoyable and transportation to the various parks are within walking distance. They have continuous bus service if you do not feel like walking. Be sure to pay attention to the time as previously mentioned as the boat from Disney World quits running late in the evening. Since you have a 5er you can leave the park to purchase any items that you might need.

Bring your own bikes (many people do) and I would use a lock. Disney will transport you over to the theme parks by boat or bus for free. The camp stores were expensive but not too bad. Plenty of spots on highway 192 to get stocked up ect. Go to the free out door show and enjoy the fire works from the lake at the north end of the campground. Take things slow and enjoy the experience. I went to the aminal kingdom when it first opened a couple years ago and did not enjoy that very much.

Wish I had 50 weeks vacation each year to get a break from work.

We rented a golf cart. Very glad we did. It was worth it for us, but we didnt have to wait in line for one as we reserved it a head of time. If you do, make sure you request one with a windshield, ours didnt have one and when it rained we went to the campstore and used plastic wrap to keep the rain off our face! LOL> we had a wonderful time!
Getting off the boat after a long day at one of the parks, it sure was great to have the golf cart waiting for us, while others walked or took the shuttle.

Have Fun!
