Retiredlife, our fan is a two speed fan with the control by the bed. I will not be at the motorhome for a couple of weeks as it's parked in the storage garage about 30 miles from home. I'll check the brand of the fan on my next trip out.

I have been looking into the purchase of a diesel pusher as my first RV and found this posting interesting. It confirms many of my thoughts cocerning the selection process.

I have purchased a very useful tool in evaluating RVs from the RV Consumer Group. It provides pricing and ratings for all RVs. You subscribe to either the trailor ratings or the motor home ratings.

In the price section, it indicates that for most RVs, the average price paid for a new coach is 79% of the list price. This means to me that some people pay more and some pay less.

For those of you who have already purchased a new RV, does this agree with your experience?

Thanks.

If you are willing to spend sometime looking, then you should be able to get between 38-40% off new coaches. You may have to travel some distance for those deals, but they are out there. These dealers offer the same as most dealerships. Some do not fill your fuel tank for you, some don't even give propane, but do the same quality of pre-delivery as most dealers except the price is quite a bit less.

Speaking of Pre-delivery. Check out this forum for more information on that. DO NOT EXPECT that any dealer to do a thorough inspection of the coach. YOU are the FINAL INSPECTOR.

Bottome line is that you need to conduct yourself as the CEO of your RV firm. Warranty repairs are very important. For whatever brand name you choose, talk to the owner of them in RV parks, on this forum, and in the parking lot were repairs are being done. If you are bold, even aske the technicians what they own, if any, and what they think. You will learn a lot if you ask direct questions, and are willing to do the work.

Retiredlife,

Sorry that I'm late getting back with you about the bedroom ceiling fan. There is NO NAME on anything! My manual says that it's a 12 volt fan and gives instructions on how to use/clean it. The vendor list does not list the fan manufacturer.

I have found this form very inforative as we are first time buyers. We are looking at a used 2004 DP Coachmen cross counry 354MB seems to meet or needs and price. Does any one own one and what do you think of it? I was told to expect around 10 miles to the gallon.

Thanks Laurier

Is there any "consumer AND OWNER Reports" type thing out there anywhere for reviews on models, mfgs and such. End up with all sorts of opinions all over the place, but some bias as are in cars or politics and often same exists when not so great products out there. None seem to want to say.. "Sure wish I had not done that". about the rigs.
So any source as to what is better or worse, be it design, reliability, wear and tear, or such... as kinda found the sales folks not always real good sources.. often amusing, but not great sources... So as some mag says.. "Inquiring minds want to know". and they should go ???? Our target unit is for moderate to light use, Class A with diesel around 35-40 ft.. weekend mostly but some trip in spring to fall.. not into winter weathers.. real winters that is, not the stuff where 1/2 of snows and all panic at "blizzard". Two of us and two terribly spoiled dogs, got deal with wife, we can go to great pheasant hunting areas if we tow her "got to find antiques" car with us.. I hunt she gets "the good stuff". Note I shoot and clean, she may cook if did not see the dead birds with feathers.
So what do we need and what do we avoid?

This was well thought out... thank you so very much!!

In my case, I knew the one & only previous owner. This is in pristine condition & small enough for the 2 of us, not to large & not to small... my dad had us grow up on RV to a certain extent... we were allowed to participate, but not play with anything critical... not having that kind of experience is working against me tonight!!

Thanks for your time & thoughtfullness,

Angela

How long for title? ? we bought a used coach from a Big Time Calif dealer in September, since we live in Washington State we planned on titling it up here. So far the dealer has paid off our trade in, the bank sent us a bill for the first payment on the new coach but we haven't gotten any title docs. The dealership has not returned our calls lately. Is this a problem ? I am not comfortable driving around with no plates or temporary. Washington will not give a temp until we produce some sort of registration document. Were we taken advantage of at Metro RV ?
