What a steaming pile of BS!! Not a single person on any forum claims 15 mpg. Did you get the one magic 496 cubic inch gas hog? With the aerodynamics of a brick your van would be lucky to get 10. Thats what 99% of other 8.1 owners get.
The ones that tell the truth anyway.

Since you lie about your non towing mileage, why don't you go ahead and tell us your towing mileage? It will be a lie anyway, but we could all use the laugh.

Here are some quotes from an 8.1 forum thread about mileage.
quote 1
"I get 9.4 mpg according to the DIC
It should be noted that prior to installing the Wait4Me PCM my average mpg was 8.9
This post has been edited by DiegoYJ: Jul 15 2006, 02:31 PM"
quote 2
"2004 2500 HD w/ 8.1 and ally. Has 4.10 gears. No mods other than 285 BFG KO tires
10 - 11 MPG general average (best ever 11.5 highway well off the gas and tail wind)
about 6 MPG towing my 9.000lb 5th wheel.
These are real numbers, no hype. I have a friend who gets the same milage with his 6.0L, same crappy milage without the power . . . "
Quote 3quote 3
I'm driving 04 CC 2500HD with Big Block / Allison combo. Have 3.73 gears and 285 REVO's. Started off in the 8.5-9 MPG range around town and 10-11 MPG highway.

I will help you with my honest gas mileage readings. I get 12.5 mpg everyday driving I have gotten as high as 14.6 mpg at 65mph flat thruway driving. Neither is very good in my eyes. Now when I hook my 5th wheel up and tow no faster than 62mph it is anywhere from 6.5 to 7.9 mpg these are all readings from my DIC. My truck is stock and has 3:73 gears but I did put 265 tires on, which I think made it worse.

I wish you guys would invest more text into performance figures like you contiue to do with your MPG. None of you can pick a GVCW and give me a number like 25,000 #s 0-70 MPH in 26 seconds. You continue to claim .1 .2 .7 increments in fuel consumption but I see this trend over and over with diesel owners. Even direct questions about performance are ignored. It would appear that in lacking performance you focus on fuel performance only. Hmmmm
Supercharged expidition is not an 8.1L thats the stale old attitude that closes the minds of the diesel owners. I agree that you can't compare a small block to a diesel.
I'm not sure what you're looking for. What performance is lacking? If you're just trolling around to get a rise out of folks, then that's fine. But there are already tests of gas versus diesel, discussed many, many times on this site, and they already prove that for acceleration, the large gas and diesel trucks post similar acceleration numbers.
Here is the data you are looking for, gas versus diesel with objective towing numbers so you can see for yourself:
Gas versus Diesel Part One
Gas versus Diesel Part Two
Gas versus Diesel Part Three
But for many of us, it does come down to MPG, because it costs a darned lot of money to get our stuff to our destination. As long as my tow vehicle can tow my junk to the destination in a safe manner, MPG is all that matters. I don't care if it's powered by gas, diesel, or happy thoughts.
You may be concerned with getting up to 70 mph a second or two faster, and who wins that drag race, and that's fine. But I'd be willing to wager that MPG is the over-riding concern of most folks these days.

No, just kinda looking for clarification. 15MPG sounded kinda high for towing a 41' trailer. I could have ASSumed you were spouting off more BS and that was your quoted fully loaded towing a 41'ft trailer mileage, instead I questioned it. (that's what the funny little "?" is for, it means that's a question)

Could it be because very few load up a trailer and go time themselves in the quarter mile yet most keep track of their mileage?
