We are looking for recommendations about state parks in the Olympia area (within 75 miles or so). We are looking for a site with electricity for 4 or 5 days the second week in March. Two parks we are considering are Millersylvania and Belfair. I'd be interested in pros and cons about these parks and information about any other state parks in this general area.
We are not interested in going to the ocean this year, we went to Grayland SP last year at this time.
Any information you can provide will be appreciated.

Try "Allimor Carriage Estates" which is across the street from the Costco entrance in Tumwater. I've stayed there several times and though it is a mobile home park, the entire center section is strictly for RV's on an overnight, weekly or monthly basis. Address is 5705 Littlerock Rd, Tumwater WA 98512 and telephone 943-7225 but sorry, don't know the area code.
There is also an rv park on Trosper Road which is the main west Tumwater exit street, maybe 1 1/2 miles but don't know anything about it.
A few others in the Olympia Area are the Nisqually on I-5 just north of Olympia towards Tacoma, and the Olympia Campground off I-5 south of Tumwater.

This is the Wash. State Parks Res. Svc. I have used it to reserve at Dash Point in Federal WAy. That park is about 30 miles from Olympia.
My reccomendations for parks would be Millersylvania SP,but don't try to camp anywhere but in the RV section. This is an old park(we picnicked there in the '50s when I was a kid and neither it or I have changed much).Belfair SP is a nice park and has great sites. Not much to do there this time of the year tho. The little hamburger stand accross the street is well worth the time to check it out and the food is great. In the summer it is both a rod and a biker hang-out( different nites)and it's crazy...I drove thru Dosewallips SP this last weekend on the way home from Port Townsend and will be pulling the TT back over there on saturday for the weekend and am hoping that the Orcas are still waiting for the seals to leave the beach.
Ike Kinswa is ok,but not really easy to get too from Olympia.
The first three would be the ones I'd check into... Now if you're thinking about private cgs, then there are a number of those in the area.. Olympia cg isn't too bad,a little rough perhaps, but centered just south of town.. Offutt Lake RV park is where the Northwest Rvers will be having a rally in March(i think)The former Lake Cushman SP is now run by a private operator who is contracted by Tacoma City Light.. Also in Hoodsport is Rest-a-while and is anopther nice place. If you're a member of the Teamsters Union, they have a beautiful place on Hartstine Island for members or retireds...

Thank you for all the information that you provided.
We are going to Puyallup mid next week to the Sewing Expo and returning to Puyallup the following weekend for the ham radio swap meet. The fairgrounds has a large RV area one can use when attending events.
Between the events we'll try one or more of the parks you recommended.
Millerslyvania has a fairly good RV section however in WA State parks full service sites generally mean water and elec and March may still be "winterized" sites with no water available. Some sites are under the trees and the rest are literally in the open.........in the sunshine on a good day. WARNING - their dump site was closed last year due to enviornmental concerns - do not know if they have resolved it. Was out of service our last trip there.......
I second the Ike Kinswa recommendation but have never stayed there. Again - not sure about March access with water or even if open. BE SURE to check the website for information. Normal weather would not be the 50's we are having............
Grayland is on the WA coast and is only a short drive away from Olympia - maybe two hours MAX. Easy drive and access. Sites are large and secluded. Is a great area to explore - not too far from Westport.
