Stopped at Home Depot on the way to pick up trailer for spring cleaning and picked up a sponge scrubber for laying floor tile--called a Qpro scrubbing sponge. Bucket with a little Simple Green, dip and scrub--all black streaks gone! Very easy. I have a Jayco with AL siding. Noticed the front of the fifth wheel felt gritty when scrubbing (didn't anywhere else) and it was the dirtiest. Suspect the polish was essentially gone on the front or just the extensive dirt up there--stored with front end low and most run off came over the front. Rest of the camper, the scrubbing side of the sponge seemed to glide instead of drag like on the front. Don't think I scratched the finish and this was the easiest spring clean up ever. Of course, I started with a roof scrubbing with an stiff brush and same simple green. Did that last fall as well and had far fewer black streaks than in the past. Just thought I'd share since it made my life so much easier.

I tried Simple Green on my fiberglass and it didn’t work. It took off some but not all. Gel-Gloss does the trick but takes some elbow grease.

Any major grocery chain and dollar store chain also has simple green. Be careful around any "color stripes" and decals when using simple green.

This morning I drug out a bottle of "Awecome" green from the dollar store and a soft sponge and cleaned the black streaks off of the new TT.. Ever notice how they'll show up more on a new rig.. Of course it's rained pretty hard here the last few days and we were on the shakedown.. Oh well,at least we know it doesn't leak...
With the "awesome green",there was hardly any scrubbing involved.Just sprayed it on ,waited an few seconds and wiped....I'll have to try the bottle of "Awesome Orange" I've got stashed in my TT somewhere..I really think the green works better than 409,Simple Green,or any of the Thetford products on Fiberglass...
I just wonder how much wax it takes off also??? Hummmmhhhh...

Simple Green works great on the black streaks on my rig. Just go light with it because it does take off wax.

As others have pointed out, Simple Green does work for removing black streaks. But, if you have a fiberglass or gel coat then you need to wax, preferably, just to replace the wax that was removed by the simple green. We now have the clothes pin on the gutters and have not had any black streaks for 8 months. Have a nice day.
