Read all the bad posts about Carlisle tires Have a 2004 30Ft 5th wheel. Has 235x16 E rating tires. Had a blow out in the first 2000 miles for no apparent reason. After reading all the posts just wondering if I should replace them before I have more issues?

If so what brand tires do you recommend.

Thanks

I'd be getting rid of them. I'm going to try BFG Commercial TA's on our new Wildcat. Got them at Sam's for less than $100 per.

If you can afford them -- M-I-C-H-E-L-I-N's Best of the bunch. period.

Or

Titan listed here --- http://www.titanstore.com/store/trailer.html

Your chances are narrowed down to a few sources for finding any trailer tires 16-inchs in size.

If you had 15's your choices open up wider.

Run, don't walk as fast as you can from the Carlisle dealer to a Michelin or Goodyear Marathon Trailer tire dealer.

And no, this is not hearsay in my case; I have direct experience with carlisle tires.

I just talked to my tire shop, telling them I want to replace my Nankang Tires 225/75R15, I told him I have heard nothing good about Carlisle Tires. He said he has Michelin, and just about anyother brand. He went on to say he has had problems with Carlisle Tire also, however they came out with a tire about a year or so ago which are Load Range ā€œEā€ in the 15"... and he has sold quite a few to folks with trailers and hasn't heard negative feedback from his customers with this new Load Range "E" tire.

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge with this Load Range "E" tire? I'm not a big fan of Michelin Truck Tires, however I don't know anything about their trailer tires.

Had a blow out on my Rockwood popup going 70MPH on I-40 in Tennessee last weekend. Less than 1500 miiles on 2002 camper. Wow that was an experience. Tire tread shot through the wheel well of the camper and pulled stuff out of the inside storage cabinet!

Put on the spare and headed into Pigeon Forge. Got to the Michelin dealer and asked what they had. He said "I've a got an off brand tire for $74 and a GoodYear for $90+". I asked what the off brand was... he said "Carlisle" - Funny, the "Carlisle" name on the tire was all that was left on the one that just shredded itself on I-40.

I went for the Goodyear... as I left the shop a stranger came up and asked if I had Carlisle tires on my trailer and then said he didn't get 200 miles out of brand new Carlisles and to stay away from them.

I am heading from Ohio to Normany Farms in MA in July. You can bet that my other tire will be a Goodyear by then too!

Do a search for "Carlisle" and find the phone number for them. Call them and see if they will replace them for you. Good luck.
