Congratulations! You worked it out.
Here is a little tutorial on using photobucket.com for hosting and the message window's Image tool to resize.
Copy the Direct Link
Open the Message Window's Image tool 
Paste the Direct Link into the URL field and enter 640 in the Width field. Leave the Height field blank; the display engine will adjust the height to keep the dimensions in proportion.
Click on the Finished button.
If the picture has a width no bigger than 640 pixels, you can copy the IMG Code URL and paste it directly into the post.

Thanks Tom. I ended up resizing some pics in Photobucket as that made the picture less fuzzy on the front end.

OK, I'll testify that you were successful in posting pictures. I will surmise that you removed them because a tree across a ones trailer is not a pleasant thing to remember.
