Tuli, that is his real name,

And here is Madelyn (in the purple coat) as a volunteer to hold a stick.. and then the guy put 2 snakes on that stick! ......
Now Madelyn likes snakes, but the one near her was getting a little too friendly... crawling up her coat and then later wrapped his head/neck around her wrist...

(In the above pic -- the snake was going up inside her coat here.. look at her face! Yikes! LOL
Look at this face! I felt like a bad momma standing there telling her to smile while she was trying not to freak out! LOL
I give her ALOT of credit tho -- I would've been running a long time ago if that was me! I hate snakes!!!! lol I give that girl a TON of credit. Hope you gave her a great big hug after all that!
How's the house coming along? PM me or post pixs!!

I took pixs today of some seagulls but even with the new lens, couldn't get close enough to see the feathers like you can on this little junco bird. I love its coloring.

Getting in close is always a challenge, Tuli. I shot the junco out the bedroom window at a distance of about 15 feet with a 300mm lens and 1.4x teleconverter giving an effective focal length of 420mm. Then the image was cropped down tightly. Here's the original to show how much it was cropped.

There is a reason why serious bird photographers think nothing of dropping $8,000 on a long telephoto lens! We only have two choices - spend the money on the long lenses or get the birds in close. Getting them in close takes a bit of ingenuity, but it's a heck of a lot cheaper.
