and here's a question about protocol and this thread.... I know I have a tendancy of being wordy in talking about pictures... are we just suppose to post a pic without including many words.... I don't want to rock the boat here.... thanks.

Cheryl - I like this picture and your explanation that went with it. I like stories behind pictures - as long as you post a picture with the story, it's enjoyable.

Don, Lockdoc, Julie, Preacher, and Marites, thank you very much for your kind and warm words.

I went to downtown Phoenix today and checked out the State Capitol Museum. Neat place, and I took a few pictures along the way.

This is Arizona's State Capitol that was built in 1901, but now serves as a museum. The government offices have been moved to the Executive Tower behind the museum. On the left out of the picture is the State Senate building, and on the right is the House of Representatives building.

On the roof is a copper dome, and "Winged Victory", a weather vane the moves freely with the wind.

The top of the dome is clear and you can see Winged Victory from inside on the 4th floor.

This Flag was carried by the Arizona Column of Rough Riders during the Spanigh-American war of 1898. Notice there are only 45 stars on it? Not all 50 states had joined the union by 1898. Interesting!

This is Arizona's State Flag.

And, I stopped for a banana split at Dairy Queen later in the afternoon!

Here's another nice picture I found from today. This was taken in Wesley Bolin Park, just east across the street from the State Capital Museum.

Behind me is the anchor from the U.S.S. Arizona that was sunk in Pearl Harbor in 1941, in front of me is the Signal Mast from the U.S.S. Arizona, the black statue is the Arizona Peace Officer's Memorial, the Copper Dome of the State Capitol Musuem, and then the Executive Tower behind it. Not in the picture are other memorials throughout the park.

Found this picture from late 03’ of my neighbors old shed that I didn’t remember taking. Last year he was moving to Atlanta to live with his daughter and asked if I could help him remove it since the house was going up for sale. Of course the answer was Yes! He had built this thing like a tank and with 3 guys and a bobcat it took 2 hours to remove. He was a great neighbor and miss him!

The fruits of labor was being able to share this picture that guys liked a little while back
