They are the mathematically calculated frames that fool the honeybeees into producing honey on the frame. Bees are very complicated creatures this is a simple explanation. As a aside I had hundreds of bees landing on me and my camera and not one sting. I may take and post more bee keeping snapshots.

Anyone still do this type of thing,we have already put up 55 pints of corn,35 pints of mustard pickles,15 boxes of strawberrys and with these 5 boxes of blackberrys will make a total of 15 boxes and peaches are next.
