In Franklin, WI today just south of Milwaukee. My load won't be ready until 4 AM. So I thought I'd do some Geocaching in the area to burn off some energy and keep from getting a truckers gut. I hiked an 8 mile round trip route to find 6 caches and took some pics along the way. Here's a few. The first stop was this church and cemetery.
The Painesville Chapel was erected in 1852 by Protestants from Wittenburg, Germany who settled in Franklin and Oak Creek. The Chapel served the First Free Congregation in Wisconsin. The building was also used as an army depot during the Civil War as well as by the Underground Railroad.

One of the saddest grave sites next door was that of the Halter Family. The father was William (1867-1929) and wife Elizabeth (1858-1899). Now for the sad part. Their first child was Alice (Aug 7, 1883 - Aug 19, 1883), second child was Louis (Nov 7 1887 - April 27, 1888) and their last was Frankie (June 12, 1892 - June 29, 1894). I can only assume the mother died of a broken heart just under 5 years later.

The next Geocaches took me to a nearby park. It was a nice walk on a beautiful cool and sunny spring day.

A makeshift bridge to cross the muddy creek to reach the cache at the base of the tree towards the top of the photo.

And for those who don't know about Geocaching, here's what I look forward to finding. As of this writing, there are 578,177 caches hidden worldwide. Some may be just a few blocks from your house. Or better yet, right next to your campsite!

The last 2 caches were near a residential area. The walk through the neighborhood and back towards the truck stop gave me a few interesting photos. Like this front yard:

I think these were a little out of place for this neighborhood:
