Just brought home my new 2006 30GS and have a couple questions.
1) I purchased the unit with the optional 400 watt inverter. What outlets will it feed? Should I be able to plug something in to all the outlets and have it work?
2) How can I bypass the "shut off" that turns off the TV and DVD player when I start the ignition?
Thanks so much for any advice.

Congrats on new unit...see our sig. I will assume that our units are wired the same.
1. the 400watt inverter only powers the TV and DVD system. It does not power any outlets. It is only that you don't kick in the gen set to watch TV.
2. the TV has an outlet with a relay that is fed from the ignition switch. I understand that it can be disabled. Don't know how though....
Enjoy your new rig.

Congratulations and welcome to the forum. Dittos to lkazanov's post; the inverter is only TV/DVD. There is a way to override the disable feature of that outlet. I have searched on this forum and seen a few posts on that subject and I've been meaning to get to that for some time. So, tell ya what. I'll get into it this weekend and report my results on this board when I "git 'er done."
Also, I'll jump on my soapbox here and tell you a couple of things to be aware of:
1) The pantry doors (in mine anyway) are supported by CHEAP plastic hangers, so if you load them with canned goods they will collapse. Be prepared to replace them or don't load them with anything heavy.
2) Replace the rubber valve stems on your tires with solid metal custom stems asap. There is MUCH discussion on this forum regarding that issue, but I'll just say this: It was the very first thing I did to my unit, for my "peace of mind."
3) If you got the barrel chair option; do not let anything slip off of the table and down into it's storage slot. It is a bear to retrieve your remotes from down there! (the voice of experience)
4) I hope you enjoy your new unit as we have. I think this rv'n thing is good! (so far). Feel free to pm me if you have ???'s

As already stated, the 400 watt inverter is just to power your DVD/TV. You will want/need a larger inverter if you want to ppower other electric devices from other outlets.
Yes, the outlet can be corrected so the TV/DVD will function while rolling down the road. Search this site for more info.
Those plastic brackets that support the rear slides on the drawers are used by many manufacturers. While weight has something to do with whether or not they break, I have seen them broken on 6" x 6" drawers that are used to carry wash cloths!!!!! I now carry half a dozen sets of the plastic brackets with me all the time. I just replace one when they break.
Goo dluck and congrats. I hope you like your Jayco.

I had been told my a sales person/manager at a dealership, that if you start the motorhome then simply unplug the tv and VCR then plug it back in it will work. Don't know if this is fact or fiction, but it was what I was told.
There are a few post that take a different approach in over riding the switch.
Good luck.

Okay.. How many of you have gone out to your motorhome, started the motorhome, unplugged/plugged the TV to see if it works!? I want to, but I am at work.... I will try this test when I get home.

The outlet to the TV and the DVD recorder is connected to the overide.
One of the first things I did was disable the overide. We have taken many trips since june in our Jayco. Florida roads were BORING and driving from Miami to Alaska was an 18 day trip I would not want to make without my kids watching TV or playing video games some of the time.!!! My son likes to play his game cube or watch a movie and I have no problem with that. You can't watch the back tv because the only outlet that the inverter goes to is the front TV unless you run the generator.
Here are the instructions I followed as given to me by another board member.
Disabling the inverter cutt-off when the engine is running is a piece of cake. It will only take about 15 mins. Do the following steps:
1. Take off the outlet cover in the TV cavity area.
2. Remove the 2 screws that hold the outlet in place and work the outlet out.
3. you should see a red wire coming out of a black plastic box glued on the back of the outlet.
4. There should be a connection clip from the red wire to a purple wire. Open the clip and disconnect the red wire.
5. Cap the wires and put back in.
Have fun and good luck!!!

Good luck and congrats on your new unit. Whenever you get ready to winterize your unit make a post or do a search. It is a bit tricky the first time.
Again good luck with your unit.

My report promised:
I just finished disabling the "disabler." The directions given by RoadtoAlaska are correct. Mission accomplished!
Thanks again to Mr. RoadtoAlaska.
One further note of caution: The outlet is hot if you're hooked to shore power. Be sure to disconnect from 110v source and hit the disconnect switch before working on it, confirm power is off with a tester.

Anyone know a quick way of wiring the bedroom TV in the Seneca to the inverter. It seems that Jayco believes that no one wants to watch That tv without gen or shore power..........
