Has anybody heard of this timer?

I have one attached to the converter in my old Lazy Daze Class C motor home.

It appears to have been professionally installed in a cutout next to the 115v circuit breakers. It is about 2" square and has a round adjustable dial that is graduated in tenths of a second.

I can't figure out what it is timing.

Anybody have an idea?

Thanks,

Roger

I may be mistaken but I think its a blow back indicator for a flux capacitor. The duration must be timed exactly.

Converter boiling the batteries, PO used it to limit the charge time? Check 120v to the converter with it on and off.

Delay relays are often used with generator switching circuits so the generator can get up to speed before the switch to the electrical load is closed and to provide a little off time to avoid voltage spikes.

In general it is wise to "break before make" & have a little "off time" so that when switching from one AC source to another the circuit being switched doesn't see a sudden change in voltage due to a difference in phase between the two sources.

My 1980 Born Free had such a relay. Perhaps that's what you have too.
