She doesn't get sick in it either.
I think little girl dumpster dogs just need the finer things in life. A credit card to Nordstroms probably would help, too.

I have read your post with a smile thinking poor Suzie. If she is waiting on a Class A motor home and a new Cadillac she will be sick for a long, long time to come.

Get ready, Miss Mary, my little family is going to Branson!!!. Gotta get the reservations, etc.
I hope it is a bit cooler than at 4-Paws because my 'joie de vive' goes 'kaput' at 100+. Wiener roasts and campfire songs are so not on my list in that weather.
Just in case you guys didn't know, mistressofdistress gave me a beautiful birthday cake last year. She is a dear, sweet lady.
I look forward to seeing old friends and meeting more old friends.
Is there such a thing as "Caddy scent"? If not, I have a brilliant idea for a new product...

Yup - great isn't it
BTW - Yesterday we picked up our fifth German Shepherd since we started fostering for the Font Range German Shepherd Rescue. So far we have managed to get each one adopted within a week of getting her/him. It is very fulfilling, but a bit stressful at times! Glad to be doing our bit. Just thought you'd all like to know

One week ago while I was browsing RV.Net, as I do regularly, I decided to check the RV Pet Stop to see what people were doing with cat liter boxes in their campers. I saw the strangest thing. Here was a thread with 987 pages!
Could that be possible? In nearly 20 years of surfing the "net" (there wasn't much of an internet two decades ago), I've seen few bulletin board threads with more than a thousand replies, much less nearly 10,000! On RV.Net?
So I thought to myself, "I'll read the first page and see what this is about... and maybe the last page to see where it's gone."
Thank you Richard! Now I'm behind with my work, behind with my sleep, the Puffs tissues have vanished from the house, and my eyes are bloodshot!
Reading The Old Fella Story has been quite a rush. It's been like living 2.5 years in a week. I read the "original poster" asking, "Should I...?" I read of his decision, of his rescue efforts, and witnessed the outpouring of support and care from RV.Net members responding. I got to "know" many members of this board from their posts, formed opinions about them, and changed some of those opinions. I was saddened as I learned of illness and even death of some. I laughed out loud, cried like a baby, felt anger, pain, grief and joy. And pride. Yeah, I felt proud to be an RVer. I was proud of Richard. (Sure I know Richard. I read this whole thread didn't I?) I've worried about Richard's health, especially his eyes; I've stewed over Sue's diabetes; I've stressed about the health issues of countless canines. I choked up at Levi's passing. I've felt some of your joys and pains, guys and gals, but always months after you did.
In remembering Levi, Richard posted, "Sometimes if we could just turn back time and relive the moments that are now gone forever it would be nice." We can't turn back time, Richard, but we can relive those moments of the past simply by remembering the special times. That's what our departed loved ones give to us, and that's how we keep them with us. As long as we remember them, their spirit lives with us. Levi will live on in many hearts for many years to come.
And BOY did I want to respond to a bunch of posts! I held back, since nobody would remember what the heck I was talking about, plus I've been torturing myself by not reading ahead, so I couldn't have even checked for replies. But I've so wanted to give praise, suggestions, condolences, and thanks to Richard, Sue and many of the other contributors to this wonderful read.
Richard, you are the epitome of a Southern Gentleman. In fact, it's a compliment to all true Southern Gentlemen to place you in their ranks. Question: Do all Southern Gentlemen have saints for wives? You certainly seem to, at least from what you write about Sue. *Tips my hat* You are many things and your recent accomplishments are great, but please tell Sue I said "thank you" for her saintly patience with her crazy old geezer.
Ooops! I mean with her Southern Gentleman.
Seriously Richard, and all of you FOOFs, thank you. This has been much more than entertaining. It's been enlightening and uplifting, and I think I'll be a better person for having read this story. I hope someday I can shake your hand, Richard. I have great admiration for you.
Some of us stir the waters a little and, if lucky, it's like a pebble dropping into a pool of water that creates a small rippling effect on our community. Your "ripples" have been more like a tsunami, creating a ground swell that has, I'm sure, affected thousands across the nation. You may have some idea of what your love and lead has done for Burke County, GA, but I doubt you'll ever be able to tally up what it's done for North America. Thanks again!
Newk, Welcome to the large family that Richard had to adopt. We come from all over the US and Canada. If you can work it in, the first week in June there is going to be the Old Fella Rally in Branson Mo. which I am going to be excited to go to as that is MY town! we were fortunate enough to have met Richard, Sue and their furkids last year while we weere enroute to Florida. On the way back we met again and I brought Anna home with us. Anna is Suzie's sister. We also spent the week with them at the Rally in Rutherfordton NC last year. You will find that the folks of this group are the best ever. I hope to meet more of them in Branson this year.
for you westerners, it is a beautiful 6° here in the Buckery state with a -16 windchill at the time. We are expecting windchills of less than taht before tomorrow. If I could only get Richard to change locations with me we would be happier.

Welcome to the Thread, Don. Good to see another member from the Rocky Mountain West. I admire your patience and perseverance, reading almost 10,000 posts in just one week. When I joined this thread, I had only about 3 months of posts to cover, but still went through quite a bit of kleenex, and have been hooked ever since. It's a shame that you missed last year's rally in Colorado Springs, but maybe you could join us in Branson and meet Richard and Sue for yourself. In any case, I hope to meet you sometime, and I hope you will enjoy reading and conversing with the members of this Thread, and maybe join us in the FOOF Yahoo group. In all fairness, however, I do have to include the following disclaimer:
" Reading the Old Fella Thread on RV.net can be addictive and lead to lost sleep, chores and productivity. It can also lead to lifelong friendships, good feelings and wonderful experiences. Proceed with care...and caring"
I am assuming Don posted as Newk and not Katy. I do so because Gary addressed his post to Don and he is seldom wrong. However I do appreciate your kind words. For the past two and one-half years this has been a walk of love and dedication and yes my wife Sue is an angel sent to keep me out of trouble and when I do get into trouble she is always there to help get me out and not to say I told you so.
I have been blessed with a very large family here on the thread all because of one old black dog that showed up at our campsite on Labor Day weekend of 2005. The people of RV.NET took us into their homes and their hearts and continue to do so on a daily basis. They have been there for us through thick and thin and have always been supportive with their encouragement and kind words. I am humbled to have so many friends that love us and take the time to say so. In all of my life I have never had so much love given asking nothing in return. I cherish your kind words and hope to meet you at one of the rallies held for Old Fella.
In June there will be a rally in Branson Missouri starting the 4th and ending on the 8th, we would love to have you. I see you are a photographer also. I did professional photography for about twenty years before retiring with failing eye sight. Sue and I loved to do weddings and have a lot of funny stories to tell.
I hope you can now catch up on your work and sleep after reading the whole thread, I admire your dedication.
