Praying that the mass turns out to be benign. It's funny how things turn out, though. You may remember that I had to turn back early from my trip to Branson because of Dash's stroke. Well, my next trip (fortunately, a short one), my brake warning light started to come on, and I also noticed a slight leak from my rear differential. I dropped it off at the dealer who does all my repairs, and he told me that the differential had a leaky seal. Not a big thing, but what he told me about my brakes really got my attention. One of my rear drums was completely worn, and the cylinders and cables were shot, among other things. My master cylinder was also leaking, but basically he said I had no rear brakes. The whole thing (including the differential) is going to cost me over $1000, but all I could think of was, "What if I had tried to make it all the way to Branson and back". There was no other indication of trouble. Dash, by the way, is doing fine, as am I.

Hi Gary. I am glad to hear that Dash is doing well and that you didn't have a brake failure before you got it repaired.

Dr. Jim couldn't get his X=ray machine to corporate and the result was we have no good X-rays of Fella's shoulder. He has called for it to be repaired and said it might be fixed by Tuesday.

Fella is in a lot of pain as write this, I just hope he can get over this hump in the road. Just continue to pray that he will get better and I will continue to do the best I can for him.

I'm just glad you went ahead and took the step of seeing the specialist, even though it sounded like your regular vet was not particularly supportive of this. It really highlights the value of a second opinion... fresh eyes, a different perspective... rather than just accepting the first thing you hear. Humans have a very great tendency to see what they want to see, and vets are not immune to that problem.

And whether this lets you "fix" it or not... I think it is better to know what's going on for reals.

What I want to know is, when are they going to start selling Comfort Zone for HUMANS????? 'Cause some days...

It has been a bad night for Fella. He is in so much pain he just lays on his bed and whimpers. He looks at me and calls me to come sit beside him. He then lays his head down and rests. This is tearing me apart to see him suffer like this. I hope tomorrow will be a better day for both of us.

This is such sad news on Old Fella. Richard, when you say OF has a Tumor on his shoulder what do you mean by that exactly? Is it on the top of his shoulder or in the armpit portion of his shoulder???

I am saying my prayers for OF and for you and Sue to get through this thing with flying colors.

I hope so, too.

You and Old Fella have brought out the best in all of us who have followed this thread.

If anyone can help him heal, it's you, Richard. It would be an honor to meet you and Sue some day, and Old Fella, too, of course.

I remember when you were first considering rescuing OF from the campground--I thought you were a woman named Dixie. What a long time ago that seems!

I will pray that God watches over all of you and that the weekend is peaceful, and that the news you receive next week is good.
