I am here too! I have had a busy day and the final thing to do was have Sandy's nails trimmed. I like it when they use the dremel on her nails, they can get real close with them. Sandy's nails grow like weeds in a garden, lol. I am always reading even if I am not posting as I am sure there are many like me. How could we not be following the story? Mr. Daniels, you are a great story teller and I am sure we will continue following any story you write about.

Count me in with the lurkers as well. My computer motherboard died ONE DAY before the warranty ran out....(I do have the extended two year warranty tho). So I have been spending hours transferring data and programs to the back up computer. To fix mine they will have to reformat the hard drive back to factory defaults. Sigh!!!!

I would much rather be playing with the dog....but it is in the low hundreds here with a heat index around 110 to 115....so we are just staying inside and keeping the air on. Sure could use some rain. It has been 90 or above since May. I hate hot weather. Hope ya'll are doing better in your neck of the woods.

Hey Campingshadow....where is Waskom??? We are in Pflugerville just outside of Austin and we were 102 today with a heat index of 202 I'm sure....it's so hot Mika and Suki (two long haired pekes) go outside to do their businesses and then come back in and flop down on the tile floors with all four legs spread out....sometimes when I come back inside I feel like doing the same thing!!!!

I have my RV.Net bookmarked as "OldFella" so it opens to this thread every time I visit -- once or twice a day normally. I don't contribute much here, but I certainly enjoy reading what's posted.

Richard, break the cost of the animal control/shelter down to what it will actually cost the average home owner in the county per month (or year) in property taxes. That would be pretty easy to figure and will be an amount to which an individual can really relate. I'll bet it would be well under $1 per month, probably under $1 per year the way you're doing it.

Yesterday evening I got the tennis ball out and watched Charlie and Suzie compete for the ball. Suzie being younger and able to run faster was able to get to the ball before Charlie who is bothered by arthritis in his front shoulder and after a while comes up limping. Any way Suzie would get the ball and carry it to the water bucket, drop it in and watch Charlie go fishing for it. This went on for a while before Suzie got tired of the game so she would then run with the ball to keep it from Charlie until both got hot and tired.

Charlie is still limping this morning so I am going to bite the bullet and have Charlie's shoulder X-rayed just to make sure there is nothing going on like with Fella. I have to go the shelter this morning and see how things are going there and then come back to take care of the yard. Okay, have to go for now, talk with you later.

bonniesoo....Waskom is just two miles from the Texas/Louisana border on I-20. We are in a natural pocket that gets more heat and less rain than the surrounding area. But then the really wicked storms and tornadoes all pass us by as well. I manage a Good Sam Park here, so if you are in the neighborhood, stop by and say hi

Richard....I sure hope that Charlies x-rays do not show up anything bad. I am so happy to hear that Suzie has adjusted so well to having him there. Can you imagine what she would be like if Charlie was her age? That girl sure has a lot of spirit.

Charlie's X-rays won't be done until next week because of a problem with scheduling at the vet's office. Oh well, we'll just have to wait.
