Anybody that never had a dog wouldn't understand why we keep coming back but I read this site every day and wouldn't miss it. It's no wonder there are over 11,500 posts. Awsome!

Charlie has some good news for you, he doesn't have bone cancer, but he does have a left front leg that has been very badly broken, or as DR. Ford says was shattered. The leg has grown back on it's own leaving some bone fragments sticking out close to the surface. The leg bone is very weak and has low density in the area of the break, so she gave him some calcium tablets to take to help strengthen the bone. No horse play, no running until it looks better. He was such a good boy at the vet's office and loved the attention.

I am so glad to hear the good news. It made my day. He was not treated right to allow that to be, but he is in dog heaven now with you all. Labs tend to be very stoic and he would not limp unless it really hurt. Glad that the calcium may help him return to play with the ball.

Unbelievable. How could he have a shattered leg and not be in intense pain and have an owner not take care of him? He must have suffered a lot while that leg was healing. Poor sweet dog. No wonder the previous owner does not want to be found.

Richard you seem to have a way with finding the old boys with serious health issues and yet make their remaining days such happy ones. Charlie is so lucky to have you.

Ditto with him being a lucky boy to have found you. I just can't understand how people can not take care of their animals and I guess I'll never understand. Hope the calcium helps him.

Charlie, You tell Daddy Richard to make sure he gets you well. I want to be able to play with my new step-brother. I hope to be able to see you before next summer if my daddy and Daddy Richard can make it happen. Eat lots of calcium and get that front leg better soon. Tell Susie her sister said to take it easy on you until you get weller. I'll keep the Frisbee warm for you.

Love, Anna

One thing about a labs, they hate to show pain. They would rather play and please there master then worry about hurting. Glad you were able to find out what was bothering Charlie. Off to Mossyrock for the weekend. Everyone have a fantastic weekend!

Good morning everyone! Last night I had to go to Photo Bucket and delete a lot of pictures so I could post new ones. I believe the limit is 150 photos you can have in your album, or so I have been led to believe, so I had to make room for the new pictures of Charlie and Suzie.

There were some photos I hated to delete as they brought to a close the end of an era. But they will be saved on a disc so I can have access to them whenever I want to go back and look. Charlie and Suzie have some big paw prints to fill, but I am sure they will do a good job.

Charlie’s leg didn’t come as a great surprise to me yesterday as Sue and I both could look at it and tell something was not right with it but it makes you wonder about people doesn’t it? I can’t imagine the pain he must have gone through with it and still does. But with God and Dr. Ford’s help I hope we can make it much better. He is such a sweet boy and so eager to please, but he does have some junk yard manners from time to time. He is not to be trusted in the kitchen with food on the counter. He is not to be trusted around the garbage canister in the kitchen when food scrapes are in it. He is not to be trusted when asked if he has eaten Suzie’s treats. But he will learn as he adapts to our family, just like Fella did.

The first Christmas Fella was here he snatched a cheese ball right off the kitchen table. Then there was the time he snatched a hot dog off the table and dropped the hot dog out of the bun trying to make his getaway. He stopped and looked at the hot dog on the floor wondering if he could beat me to it or should he make a run for it with what he had? He decided to take the bun and run. He was so funny during that time as he adjusted to a life that was so foreign to what he had been used to. But being the dog that he was he settled into our routine and expectations very well. I can see Charlie will do the same. He and Suzie are now bosom buddies and get along great, playing with each other and then lying close to each other sometimes during the day.

I wonder if Charlie will wear the Santa hat for me this Christmas? Suzie has said “NO Way?” , but I think she will. Okay I have to go for now, so I will talk with you later.
