Just heard you may be getting an unwelcome visitor named Hanna. Hope it turns away or weakens.

So far we have not had any bad weather nor have we seen any rain from the storms that have hit the Gulf Coast. Hanna may be a different story as it is projected to hit somewhere on the Georgia, South Carolina coast by the weekend. Being far inland we won't see any hurricane winds but toronados could be a threat with some heavy rain. We will just have to wait and see what happens.

Anyway, Charlie, Suzie and Peaches will be available for rescue efforts if they are needed.

We are just coming up for air from Gustav. Our park normally has 60 spaces (which were all full with our regular campers). Friday and Saturday we started taking in the Gustav evacuees and now we are overflowing with 93 RV's and we are so excited as we were able to give them all full hookups including WIFI.

Everyone here was very generous in sharing spaces and the trailers were snuggled up together. Almost everyone brought dogs and many of the trailers are housing 8 to 12 people. And yet, as we expected, we are meeting some wonderful people and such a wide variety of dogs. We even have a pair of boxers with 5 week old pups! And everyone has been wonderful. We even had a huge BBQ for everyone last night where we sat around the big screen TV and watched the progress of the storm.

We were braced for heavy winds and up to 20 inches of rain....instead we got moderate winds (25 MPH or so) and so far less than 2 inches of rain. The eye of Gustav is right over us right now. We really dodged a bullet this time and my heart and best wishes go out to everyone who had to go thru this storm. Once again, I am so proud of RVer's. If you have to ride out a storm, they are the best to be with. In spite of being in such close quarters we have had absolutely NO problems.

I am really hoping that Hanna will be as kind to those in the East as Gustav was to us. Richard....they are still predicting that she might hit Georgia. I hope you and the furkids will all be safe. It is going to be a stormy week.

shadow, By your posts, I must assume that you folks own a campgrounds. What it sounds like you have done should be commended. Not everyone woul be willing to open up for something like that. Sounds like you also have a swell bunch of regulars. I hope I have the opportunity to get down to your area sometime. I like to cater to places like yours. Kudos and God Bless your efforts.

Richard, let us know about Peaches shoulder. Glad you had a great time. It is nice to get away sometimes. Campingshadow, so like Gustav did wreck as much havoc as was predicted, and that all in the camp ground was safe.

Sounds like it is a very active season. Everyone just keep safe

I found out Peaches was hit by a car two years ago {guessing at the timing}, I found this out from my daughter whose dog this was. At the time the vet said there were no broken bones. But now she is having terrible pain in her right hip. Thursday is as soon as the vet can see her, until then she is on pain meds.

It looks as if Hurricane Hanna is going to make land fall at Hunting Island close to Hilton Head, South Carolina. This may mean the State Park will get a direct hit. I hate to imagine that this beautiful park may become a place we used to go to enjoy the beach. This is a wonderful place to enjoy a walk with your family along the ocean and breath in the fresh air. Fella and Levi really enjoyed the beach, especially Levi. He would get so excited when we arrived and couldn't wait for the truck to stop so he could get out and explore.

As I get older I can see how much time changes everything around me. Yesterday I was young, today, well you know...

Suzie brings so much life to the home with her playfulness it is hard not to feel younger when you are around her as she draws you into her play. I watch her pick up a toy and bring it to Charlie or Peaches and she tries to get some responce from them. If that doesn't work she then brings it to Sue or I and puts it in our lap and waits to get a reaction from us. You are not going to ignore her because she isn't going to let you. You either throw it, or give it back to her and then it becomes a game as you and she will pass it back and forth, she's no dummy and knows just how to get you into her world of everything is great. What a pleasure she is to have around.
