When it's time to store the toyhauler until the next trip, is it best to;

A) Store it with the fresh water tank full?

B) Store it with the fresh water tank empty?

I have heard that if you store it empty it will mold??? I have also heard that is not true??? What is the correst way PLEASE !!!!

Also, should I do anything special to the grey and black tanks during storage???

Thanks in advance for the input !

I keep my tank empty most of the time.
I have never given it much thought.
The longest my trailer sits is 2 months.

Check out rvbasics.com. I believe you will find a load of useful information at that web site.

I store with all of my tanks empty. I use my trailer every 2 weeks though.

I keep mine full in storage and drain and refill when ever I use it. Not sure if this is the way it should be done but I like fresh water when I go camping and also if something happens I will have 100 gal to use if earthquake or something .

I drain mine, then when you restart things just follow the normal routine for sanatizing your freshwater tank.

From an online source:
1. Turn the water heater off and let the water cool.
2. Dilute 1/4 cup of household bleach for each 15 gallons of tank capacity in a gallon of water.
3. Add the chlorine solution to the water tank. Never pour straight bleach into the RV water tank.
4. One faucet at a time, let the chlorinated water run through them for one or two minutes. You should be able to smell the chlorine. (Make sure you are using the water pump and not an external water supply.)
5. Top off the water tank and let stand for at least three hours over night is better.
6. Completely drain the system by flushing the faucets for several minutes each. Open all plumbing drains (if any) and the hot water tank drain plug and drain until the tank is empty.
7. Close all valves and faucets and drain plugs.
8. Fill water tank with fresh water.
9. Flush each faucet for several minutes each repeating until the tank is again empty. (Make sure you are using the water pump and not an external water supply.)
10. Fill the tank again. The water should now be safe to drink but if the chlorine odor is too strong you can repeat the fresh water flush.

Since I forgot and left water in the tank for over a month in mid summer and went to take a trip, bad smell from the faucet. After that
I learned to use a fresh water treatment when filling, I use Taste Pure by Camco. It sure beats the flushing over and over.; Tom
