Ro sie you might try some pawn shops. You should be able to pick up an old machine cheap. Doesn't have to be very old, and if it doesn't have Windows 98 loaded on it you can always install a copy of 98. Not very difficult. It should also work if the computer is running Windows ME, Windows ME is just an update of 98. Jon good luck with the puter, might try tigerdirect.com., Gotta go

Mower, aren't puters a real pain? But, I could not live with out one lol. I cant believe in my lifetime we went from a long distance telephone call being a real experience to being able to chat clear around the world in the blink of an eye, and virtually for free. I am going away the end of Oct and the first few days of November and am going to pick up an old puter then too. I have no idea what it is, but I am hoping it will be able to run win98. I have made a few bucks on the patterns I make, and am hoping I don't have to put anymore money into my endeavor. I want to spend it all on my g kids Glad you are snowless so far, and hope you have a mild winter. rose
Good evening to everyone. We're getting all the planning done around
here for tomorrow. The DW will take be off and take care of "little bit" while her "mommy" is at the hospital having the "new" grand-daughter. I'm going to work and will head out to the hospital around 11:00 or so. Keep the daughter and new baby in your prayers. I'll report as soon as I get a chance.
It was overcast here today, got up to about 70, but no rain yet. We're hoping to get some in the next couple of day's. Hope you get your 'puters taken care of Jon and Rosie. If you remember, mine
"fried" a couple of months ago or so. I agree with Rosie, when you don't have one, you sure do miss it. Hows that song go?, "don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you got till it's gone".
I hope all of you had a good day and your all well, I'm going to get cleaned up, going to be at work at 05:00 and got a full day planned for tomorrow, so I'll get back to you then.

Wow, lots of chatter here the last few days. Changing the oil is such a simple task but yet prone to mistakes. I did not tighten the oil filter enough once and about a quart of oil squirted out onto the driveway before I could cut the motor.
Writing from Las Vegas tonight. Been here since last Sunday for a 4 day conference. Weather is perfect: high in upper 70's, low in mid 50's, no humidity. We're water logged back home though, wish I could send some moisture to NC.
Speaking of 'puters are frying up, I haven't backed up any data for years. Need to take care of that when I get back home.
Best wishes for your daughter and new baby, Jim.

Good morning all. Jim, you and yours are in our prayers. A new grandbaby to teach the ins and outs of football. My computer has been down for awhile. Just get back in touch with you all then puff! That's number 2; dwasher first now my fridge is on the fritz (#3); surely this should be the end of it; for awhile!!!
Rosie I keep my fabric cupboard well stocked. So far I've been lucky that I've had enough of a fabric; and what I like to complete a project. Almost as bad as collecting shoes! Wool for crocheting and knitting on the other hand I purchase as I need it. Presently working on a crocheted sweater.
I put some strong coffee on. Hope everyone has a great day. I'm not sure of the temp right now but we have rain.
So nice to see this forum used. I know I will eventually find another puter to use for my embroidery, and I DO have my patterns backed up. That's money in the bank for me. I just need to find the puter to use as a check book and to make more patterns of course. NC, I sure hope you get a "good 'en" But then, aren't all grand kids good'ens? I cant wait til Halloween to see our little ones all dressed up. Goldwing, you know, what happens in Vegas.........well you know the rest of the line . Glad to see you back Kelly. I am sorry to hear your puter was acting up. Hope you have things under control now. How are your little furry friends? Well, I am going to be sewing today, making Halloween hats that look kinda like pumpkin stems and leaves ( hope they turn out ok) you all have a good one. rose
Cool, cloudy, and wet this AM. I may run some errands, get a new bolt to replace the one that I twisted off yesterday, but don't think there will be much outdoor work done around here. If I hadn't put the loader frame in the shop, I could get the tractor in there to tinker with it. Hindsight is always 20-20. I guess I could hook a chain to it and drag it out of there. Nah, not today.
I need to get in the garage, find DW's old computer, and get it hooked up so she can download and print some stuff for her continuing education. That's more important than working on tractors.
At least I don't have to worry about what to fix for dinner tonight. My crockpot roast beast didn't get done yesterday, so I burned burgers on the grill. Tonight's dinner is done. It may be more like stew than a roast, but oh, well...
Guess I'll browse around a bit, fix breakfast, then get busy. Gotta go to post office, tractor supply (for the bolt), should fill a gas can, etc.
Later, y'all...
Oh, hey, Jim, that new grandbaby arrive yet? You'll be catching up with me soon. (three in the last six months!!) We pray that everything goes well.

OK, got the stamps, got the bolt, found the old computer, hooked it up, can't find the printer (I know it is out there SOMEWHERE!!)
44kbps is MUCH better than 31kbps!!
I made the mistake of plugging the two printers that are here into the back of the computer (forgot what those two cords were for), so it was looking for software to match. I didn't want to load that, so had to interupt it and shut it down, unplug the printers, and start over. Also had to go find the (Logitech) mouse that had been used with this unit so it wouldn't have a hissy fit over an unknown (Sony) mouse. It apparently found an acceptable driver for the Sony monitor, it seems to be happy with it.
Ah, computers....
LOL mower! Those puters can drive you nuts. Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em. Sorry your crock pot messed up your dinner hour last nite, but ya know, stew is always good on a cold wet day. It was so warm here last nite that we did the BLT thing. Saw those fresh tomatoes sitting on the window sill and self got to talking to self and before you know what happened, BLT's were the order of the day. NC must be sitting there biting his finger nails. Getting a new grand baby is always a nail biter. I hope his daughter makes out OK. It gets to me, the way they have babies now and in 24 hours the insurance wants you out of the hospital. Sounds like they are reverting to the dark ages where women gave birth in the fields and then went right back to work. I guess they choose not to remember how many mothers and children we lost back then. I just finished making the hats that go with my little ones pumpkin costumes, so now I guess I am finished, unless another of them come up with a project for me. I am hoping for a little break so I can get the MoHO cleaned and ready to leave the first of Nov. Have a good day , and catch you later. rose
