Made it home last night. Left Winnemuca, NV, at about 0700 MDT, rolled into the driveway at 2200. LONG day! I think I need to quit that, and go with 500 miles or 10 hours, whichever comes first. OK, so it will take me three days to make some trips instead of 2. Big deal.
Just got done mowing the yard. Had to set the deck at level six, the grass was so long. Actually, the grass looks so good at that height, I may leave it there! The mulching kit seems to work great. A little clumping where the grass was tallest, but not bad. Tomorrow, after DW goes to work, might wake up the trimmer and beat up some edges.
The stupid Corgi keeps squirming through the fence, so I guess I'll have to go get some chicken wire to stop her. I don't much like the looks of that stuff, but it is inexpensive, and it is twisted instead of welded so the dogs can't break it. I hope. It appears that is what they have been doing, working the wire back and forth until the welds break, then they can push their way through!
Dumb dogs. Too smart for their own good.
As usual, lots of projects to get done, then I can load the camper and head for the hills.
Whoops, better get new fishing license. It is free for us old dudes. Seems to me they could save some money by making it permanent instead of having to get a new one every year. But, hey, they make the rules. Whatever they want.
I think I'll browse around a bit while the dishwasher does its thing, then head for bed.
Later, y'all...

Gee, it's empty in here. There is even an echo..o...o....o.....o!

The coffee pot is empty, my mug is almost empty, might as well put the dogs to bed, get the pot ready for morning turn on, and go to bed myself.
Maybe curl up with a good book for a while.
Or go soak in a hot bath. with a good book.
Something.

Hi again. Summer might be peaking around the corner in these parts. Mid 70's the next few days, lows in the 50's. Means I get to ride the Duc more often. Made my morning coffee. I don't have a coffee pot since my machine makes a cup at a time. It works pretty fast so no one really has to wait. Been trying darker roasts lately for stronger coffee taste.
Race track events so far have had lower turnouts than expected. Probably reflective of the economy and gas prices. Planning to RV closer to home myself due to fuel costs.
Got to get my day started!

Good morning, Shun and all...
Shun, I need to get a different 2 wheeler. The Vulcan just isn't comfortable for DW on the back, makes her knees hurt. I have been thinking about a full dress Goldwing Interstate, but they are hard to find around here. There are lots of them on eBay, in Florida, the Carolinas, etc. Is an Aspencade as nice as an Interstate, or better, or what?
What other machine could we look at that would be a comfortable cruiser for the passenger?
I'm a little slower getting my day started, but the dogs are fed and out, the horses are fed, the coffee started itself, and now I can just relax for a few minutes until time to go get DW from work.
Might go crazy today and go get a Volkswagen Cabrio for a economy daily driver.
Then again, maybe not.

Jon, Aspencade and Interstate are different trim levels of the Goldwing from way back, maybe the mid 80's to mid 90's. The basic bike is the same. DW really liked the '97 Wing I had. She could read or fall asleep back there whenever she wanted. The big windshield made for a quiet ride. Lots of accessories available. The current models are even better. The Wing does have issues though. First, it is BIG. Expect 825lbs. Total carrying capacity may only be around 400 lbs for riders and luggage, so I think most folks overload it. The heft is most noticeable in slow speed maneuvers and U turns. It has wide engine guards so it is not that hard to pick up from a tip over. Overall, very smooth and stable on the highway, kind of a handful in the city.

It has a 1.5 to 1.8L motor, so mileage may only be around 33-35mpg. First gen Wings have 1200cc motors. The forks are wimpy and have too much flex for my tastes. For rearseat comfort, look for any bike with a similar rear seat configuration to the Wing: high back, lots of padding, arm rests. Cruiser style bikes are not going to give you that.

The problem has more to do with leg position than an "easy chair" seat. The Vulcan keeps her knees bent back too far for comfort. We need something that she can have her knees at a more "chair-like" position, not more than 90 degrees flexion.
I rode a Wing once, must have been late '80s or early '90s. It was a nice ride, except at slow speeds. As I recall, the front wheel kept wanting to "fall over".
Maybe I'll sell the Vulcan and go find a couple of Honda or Suzuki 400 to 600 CC scooters. (yeah, right, like I have THAT kind of money!)
With any kind of luck I can get about 3 grand for the Vulcan, and any Wing I look at will have to be 3500 or less. I don't want to finance anything.
I guess what we need to do is find one we can take for a half hour ride, and see how it goes. That's tough to do when there aren't any for sale locally.

Maybe the Honda reflex scooter could work for you. It is a 249cc bike, fast enough for highway. The Honda helix is also a 244cc but uglier.

I have been off line for a few days. That new little one made her arrival and diverted my attention. All is well here, still a little breezy today. Miss Abi is in residence and is rolling one of my office chairs around. Kids sure have an imagination. Going to have a house full here tomorrow, all the new moms are going to be here to check out each others new babies. I may have to head out to the MoHo every now and again to get some quiet. Wish me luck and perseverance. lol

Great to see everyone in here. It was a LONG week, glad it's over. It's been a beautiful day here, started out a "tad" cool, temp was 42, but it got up to 75 degrees and was sunny all day, I even climbed up on the 5er and washed the roof, the front awning and the slide out covers...mowed and weed wacked yesterday. We had the two granddaughters today, (Amber...be 4 in June, and Kaylee, 7 months old.
Amber is spending the night and we'll babysit both of them again tomorrow...it'll keep you on your toes. Looks like we're going to be in for some rain tomorrow..guess we'll see. Hope all of you are well and hope your all having a great weekend...sounds like everyone is busy and/or planning on being busy...ya'll take care out there, I'll catch ya later.

Did do a bit of "troubleshooting" on the 5er, I noticed Friday evening that I had no 12V power...dead...did a few checks and it seemed to lead to the battery by-pass switch..bypassed it and sure enough, that was it...and on top of that, when I took the switch apart, it started working again...go figure, but I'll take it..now all is well with the 5er....

Good evening to all, had a hard time trying to post on rv.net, so I jumped on Good Sam club and here I am Started out about 48 degrees this morning and sprinkling rain on and off, ended up clearing up and being sunny late afternoon and got up to about 75. I even washed the truck and the car...don't know, seemed like the thing to do. The two girls are gone. Daughter just left and Amber through a bit of a fit, she wanted to spend another night and go to work with her "maw-maw" in the morning..anyway, we ARE thinking about taking her camping with us next Monday and probably have her mom and dad pick her up Wednesday. Going to be a wait and see type thing, especially to see what the weather is going to be like...hope all of you are feeling well and I hope your having a great weekend. I'm going to get cleaned up, catch ya'll later.
