Al,
I think you would have liked him. From the way you talk about yourself, you are a lot alike.

I'll take that as a complement my friend!

Hi my friend,

as it was meant, to be true

Gary,
Miss Tuli is and has always been a true lady. She has been a very good friend and I do hope to meet her one day.

I would like the opinions of those on SG&C and any visitors that want to chime in.
I may have a decision to make! The company that owns the prison commissary business I work for is being replaced by another one in July. We are told that each of us will keep our jobs but the way they are talking about doing business doesn't seem as efficient which means more hours which SS won't let me make but so much before they get 1 of every 2 dollars.
I now work 3-5 hours a day with a guaranteed 5 paid hours.I have to face over 300 prisoners each week, stand on my feet punch in all those price codes, keep the storeroom stocked, train new trustees regularly and try to keep the helpers honest and so on.Not really a lot. Best tater I ever had BUT! I have an appointment Monday for a different Deal. If I decide to take it I will be working for the Sheriff Dept., Driving a van, hauling (a few) work release prisoners back and forth to the job and prison. Leave early in the morning, get off about 8am. Go back and pick them up in the evening return them to prison.Get off about 6pm.I'll get a minimum of 4 hours but will make 2 dollars more per hour. This comes to 10 dollars a week less but I will take the van back and forth so no cost getting to and from work which now costs me about twenty a week.
The draw backs I see are getting up earlier and the day being split up.The pluses are a lot less stress, not handling 300 ID cards with all kinds of possible germs on them and not being inside while working. I like to at least be able to see what's going on outside.
This is already long but let me add. I was going to call this fellow yesterday morning to get my name on the waiting list. A guard told me to call him about 9 am but I just didn't find time to get loose. Well the phone rang around 11am and it was him calling me wanting to know if I would be interested. He had not spoken to the guard. Ain't that weird? I feel like it is meant to be but still praying about it and thought I would see what ya'll think!

Al,
easier job, less stress,
as long as it will not mess up your SS benny's, or the split shift mess up your days, I'd say it sounds like a good deal.

Sounds like the guy wants you.

I'll try to keep you informed Dale. I have some questions to ask him.
Also I don't want to leave my present Boss lady in a bind. If I go soon I could help train a replacement, if I wait till the changeover it could be chaos for them.

I can understand you not wanting to leave her in a bind, but you also need to look out for you.

you do not want to interfer with what you get from SS

ok all my family here knows about the last 2-3 weeks and how hard they have been for me,
and I thank you for helping me
but, get this, and all you will be able to do is lol

my uncle, my dad's baby brother, has his Medical directive, and is the Exc of his estate. Well, he goes out on a cross county bike enduro race on Saturday, the day after my dad pass'. Has his boys with him, and one of our other cousins, my aunt, a big family weekend for them.
He falls off the bike and breaks 3 ribs and punches a hole in his lung.

He is ok, now, was in the hospital 3 days, but was able to get out in time to be there for my mom and all of us.

but you would think that at 65 yrs old he would know better then to try and keep up with the BIG BOYS
