Quote: Traveling a substantial distance to save $$ on the new MH isn't necessarily the best idea due to lack of subsequent dealer support.
You have to way the potentials vs. cost savings. People have posted about problems buying out of their area and not being able to find a dealer they did not buy from that will not rip them off with repairs (warranty or no warranty) in their area With the bad reputation most dealers have in So. California I was happy to buy from out of state. Almost all warranty work can be done by independent shops that are glad to get your warranty work knowing they'll also get your non-warranty work at a later date. I even have a guy that comes to my house and does my Jayco warranty work.

I feel I have found a pretty good deal on a new 2007 GulfStream Conquist 28'class C and was wondering if anyone can give me positive or negative feedback on this unit. Any help would be great, I'm fixing to jump in with both feet. David

GulfStream has gotten a lot of criticism from some owners. Most of it seems to be for shabby workmanship and poor response from the factory when called for help or information. My own experience is in buying a well maintained 2003 model two years ago. I found several items of shabby or careless workmanship, but so far no major problems. My outlays have been for convenience and upgrade items, except for new shock absorbers, a standard chassis problem.
Since you may not get support from the factory in case of a problem, the quality of the dealer becomes critical. Focus your research on learning about the dealer's reputation and policies. Also consider an independent inspection, which might uncover any potential serious problems. Tell the dealer you're concerned about GulfStream's attitudes and quality, and ask what he can do to prove that his is better. If he offers anything concrete, get it in writing.

Good point, the dealer has been around for 34 years and has a decent rep. but factory service help is very important to me. I'll research that area thanks.

I highly recommend this dealer for factory direct pricing. I bought a Jayco from them last year at 29% off MSRP. They are actually World Wide RV in Mesa, AZ. The delivery went perfect. They have other brands, but not sure if discount would be the same.
