Newbie to towing a TT, and have a question on Sway Control. Have towed Pop up Camper, Boats to 18' and Equipment Trailers. Never had any type of Sway Control. Planning to purchase a 20' TT, will pull with my 01 Chev. 2500 HD, 4WD, Vortec 6000, 4 Speed HD Auto Transmission. Reading this excellent Site and get the impression that I should have a Sway Controller. Your opinions much appreciated.

Pop up campers and boats are totally different than a TT when comes to towing. The main cause of sway is wind either from nature or other vehicles. TT has huge side wall that can be "pushed" by wind and start sway.

I agree with above. A simple friction type sway control should be all you need for safe and comfortable towing.

Enjoy.

I pulled a 25' Layton for years and never needed sway control. Pulled my new trailer, see sig, once and decided that I wanted sway control. There will be others that say you don't need it until you need it and then it is usually to late. If it is in the budget I would say go for it.

Rvwholesalers.com, I think they still have the equalizer for $400 shipped.

You might do a test tow though on the interstate, see how it does...

If you load it correctly you will not need one.

We have a weight distributing hitch on our 19' TT and do not need sway control.
