The one book I would not leave home without is the "Exit Authority". Let's you know what you can expect to find within one mile of an Interstate Exit. It also indicates in red type whether the facility can accomodate a recreational vehicle.
I only knew one thing when we started: I wanted to be able to get away frequently, and quickly. My RV experience consisted of wondering up and down the aisles at Camping World. The book that I bought initially, and still use sometimes, is RVing Basics by Bill & Jan Moller (Pub. Ragged Mountain Press)
Trailer Life's Repair & Maintenance Manual is my kind of book; Big pictures & little words
