Ok answered one post and it sparked me to ask what the remote alarm thingee is called where you can carry it with you and it will sound if the power to the B goes dead (so if you leave your dogs in the ac van and the power fails the dogs don't wilt away).
So does anyone know what they are called? Have suggestions on what kind to get? and know where to buy them? Also can you post the distance they reach - does it differ from what the manufacturer says.
Thanks.

Check this out
http://www.onan.com/pdf/rv/f-1597.pdf
It is a remote start/stop and it looks like it has an LED
to show run.
But it still wouldn't tell you if the AC was running.

Those need a phone line to call out on. Would there be a way to use a cell phone? Leave one for the monitor to call out to a second one?

Sportsmobile (Gallery - Dogs) offers a "Paging System with a temperature sensor" as an option. It utilizes a paging system.... they say maximum range is 2000 feet.
The paging system is used in order to get around the phone requirement. So, a no cell service area does not have any effect. If you are gonna be a long way from your rig, then the phone based system would be a necessity (gotta have coverage 'tho).
My organic memory archives indicate they charge around $400 - $450 for the system when installed, but will sell the components for you to install yourself for around $250- $300, IIRC.
Those files went into the organic archive a few months ago.... not much beer has been consumed but I have slept a couple of times, thus the fuzzy logic. The prices were from Paul at the TX location.

I've been doing some surfing, and have come up with an idea. Please feel free to find fault with my logic and correct my attempt to solve this question.
1- using a "long range car monitor" says minimum range is 1/2 mile.(long range car monitor. It has a transmitter that is 12v, but uses pin type switches.
2- use 110v relay and socketand plug it into one of the 110v outlets that are powered by the genset. By wiring the relay in place of a pin switch, when the 110v power is lost the alarm thinks a door has been opened and transmits the alert to the pager.
Please look at this solution and see if I'm missing something.

Thanks for the link. That is something like I'm looking for. If the genny shuts down, and the temp starts to climb, the thing will call us at the stadium. $200 to $250 is cheap insurance for the dog's well being

I dont' trust my cell phone and don't have coverage at one of the places I frequent. But I've emailed Sportsmobile for cost of their transmitter and how easy it is to install. I'll post to this thread once I receive a response.

What phone line are you going to use for it to call out?
I think I'm going to build one of my contraptions, it won't cost much and if it doesn't work, I can use the alarm anyway.
Update: I ordered the alarm so in a few days, I'll see if I can make it work.
