Hey all, Many of you already know I managed to buy that rig pictured above. I fully plan on putting together a bit of a review of the whole thing, document features, pros/cons etc. But since the truck has been in the shop awhile, it's been hard to do....Anyway, at Downrivers request, I'm reposting a few pictures from a couple of other threads I have put pictures in.
Hope you enjoy them; I'm sure glad to finally join all you in this thread as an actual OWNER of a flatbed truck and TC combo, rather than just being a dreamer... There are a lot of cool combos in this thread.
From the trip back:
We put on something like 2500 miles though I didn't pay attention to the exact numbers. I flew into to Hartford, CT, took a giant detour around the NYC area and came in to Philly from the northwest to pick up my wife the next morning. From there, we went west to Harrisburg, PA and then along the mountains down to Shanandoah National Park and did 2/3rd's of Skyline Drive (the part that was open) then continued on down to Bristol TN/VA, then on to Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Visited Sleepy in Oak Ridge, and then on to visit a friends' son (a friend really) going to school in Clarksville, AR. From there, via Tulsa/Witchita, Salinas, KS and then Denver.
I'll certainly answer any questions anyone has, but I will also write up something more complete in the not-too-distant future.
well was surfing the Internet, came across 2003 Chevrolet crew cab with a flatbed, with the camper mounted for sale in California.only reason posting is to show pictures of the camper and a truck, never know maybe somebody's interested in.I have no financial interest in it.just posted because of picture.http://www.truckpaper.com/listings/detai........10&guid=E3B04625FF7C4B50B391094B89FD6DE9
ps person must of been real hard on the truck by the description of the for sale ad
quote from ad
This truck is LOADED! 4x4 dually, complete Banks kit and exhaust brake, NEW Engine @ 67K, NEW Transmission @ 48K, Fleetwood Angler camper and Yamaha Generator, and TONS of storage!
I measured this with the Lance loaded, and I know that it does squat some when it loads....but my flatbeds height seems to be 45", and then I have 3.5" of plywood to lift it up high-enough to clear the cab with enough space.
Hopefully one of the F550 guys can reply with their deck height. Otherwise, stop by a Ford dealer and measure one...they almost always have a flatbed or two on the 550's on the lot.

hangdog,
I love the rig with it's mandatory counterweight front bumper (draw bridge, half up) with mounts for the camper dolly wheels and spare. I'll bet it takes a lot of diesel to roll those huge tires/wheels. I'm guessing those tire/wheels weigh 225 lbs. (100 kilos), making the things that roll on there (+ the TWO spares) tip the scale at over 1400 lbs. almost 3/4 ton? Of course, only a half ton is unsprung weight.
Looks like it will go anywhere though.
regards, as always, jefe
