I took my 05 PW Lexor (Chevy 3500) to the GMC dealer today to get a 15K mile checkup and miscellaneous services done to it. (Chasis lube, air filter and misc. checks, front-end alignment, etc.) I chose to go to the GMC dealer instead of the Chevy dealer because I didn't like the service I got from Chevy when I went there previously. The GMC center is able to service very big trucks, so I figured my PW would be no problem.
Dropped it off at 9:00, and at 2:30 they called me to tell me they couldn't work on it. Claimed it couldn't be racked on any of the systems they have because of the plumbing. Wouldn't even do any of the service that didn't require it to go on a rack (like changing the air filter.) Geesh. The tire store racked it just fine when I got new wheels. The GMC guy told me they just didn't want to take a chance on damaging anything underneath. "We're not in the business of paying for damage to stuff like that." I was pretty perturbed, to say the least - I had taken the day off to get this done. They could have at least told me they couldn't/wouldn't work in it when I dropped it off.
Now I'm going to have to go to the Chevy dealer. Not looking forward to that based on my last visit, but I want to keep my rig very well maintained, so I want the service done, and I'd like to just get it all done in one place.
Anybody else run into issues with getting service?
Yep,I've had problems... more with idjit service writers. _Twice_ with the RT I drove across town to the Chevy dealer and made appointments for service, with the dam' van sitting there in the service aisle!!! Then I drove the 14 miles across town in rush traffic, arriving at a quarter 'til eight, when I don't normally even get up until then... had everything with me, ready to entertain myself for several hours in their crappy waiting room... book, newspaper, 'puter with aircard.
Was met _both_ times with the line, "Oh, _that_ won't fit on our regular lifts. I'll have to set you up with an appointment with our truck shop. It'll be next week."
Look, idiot child, that's what I _thought_ you did. It's why we stood in the doorway of the van each time while you made the appointents.
I now avoid that retard service writer like the plague... the other one isn't much better, but at least he can remember from one visit to the next that I've got a small RV that *has* to go to the truck shop.... But I've made three trips in with the Tiger for a driveline vibraion that's still there.... At least it's finally getting worse, so _maybe_ they'll find & fix it next time...
But remember, we're supposed to support ourselves with a "service" economy.... Hah!

I got the same******for the local Chevy dealer here in Corsicana. They did not have a lift large enough to handle the van. I tried the other GM dealer and after talking the the service manager about warranty work. He told me that a GMC place can not do warranty work on Chevy products. I left and went to the Chrysler dealer. He went out of his way to get all the service work done. If you ever need service done on any type of Class B, and are in the Corsicana area, I recommend Berry Chrysler. There are at I-45 and Route 31.
Since it's not warranty work why even bother with the dealer? Take it to a Truck Service facility, and save yourself some money. A lot have pits and don't even need to lift it. As far as the alignment goes most dealers will ship it out to a Truck place anyway, and charge you more.
The GMC place is a truck service center. My biggest gripe about the episode is that they could have done the service if they wanted to, they just didn't want to.
Both dealers are within walking distance of my house, and the total cost isn't that much - $250. I know other places where I can get all the work done, but I'd like to just go to one place. I also like having work done at certified centers.
I'm going to give the Chevy dealer another chance.
Stay away from Poulsbo Ford! I had some idiot of a service writer who had trouble speaking english give me the "go around" about how busy they were and couldn't adress my concerns for a long time because they were "booked up" but took the next person because they needed service work that was not warranty related{service writers get commissions}. He also told me to wait until I got home from vacation and take it to the Ford dealer.
So I got home and took it to the Ford dealer who drove it around enough to use up almost a half tank of gas and then told me they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I then insisted that they go for a test drive and the shop foreman agreed that there was a problem. Three days later after not calling me back and the contact person being off that day, they told me that the problem was a responsibility of the conversion company and not Ford's even though they billed Ford for their time.
Bottom line, I took it home and fixed the problem(s) myself. Why do we have to put up with this crap? I'm sick and tired of it!
I took my Rt to the Chevy dealer to have an alignment, but found out they were going to send it to the local truck place, (they couldn't fit it on their alignment rack) and charge me about $45 more. Took it to the truck place myself.
