We've always used the electric oil-filled radiators at our summer cottage, but found them too bulky, heavy and tippy for use in our B. So we've relied on a Pelonis quartz cube heater, which has been efficient but noisy. Last weekend at Home Depot we found a very compact Kenwood electric oil- filled radiator, #TRN0812TK, made by DeLonghi. It has three wattage settings: 500 low, 700 medium, and 1200 high, as well as a timer. We used just the 500 watt setting last night when the temps dropped below freezing and found it kept the cabin nice and warm. The heater itself has a wide base and is quite low compared to other radiator-type heaters, so it's easy to bungee it to our passenger seat for travel. Home Depot priced it around $70, but if you shopped around you might do better. We knew we would be using a heater soon, so bought on the spot!

What are the dimensions for this heater? I see that it weighs about 17 pounds. I have bought one of these oil filled to try this winter for the warmer nights:

I have a Pelonis from Camping World for the very cold nights.

Mumkin,
I can't find specs anywhere. I measure 7"W x 18"L x 15"H. I would guess it might weigh 12 - 15 lbs. Last night set on 3 Low (500 watts) it kept the RT at 50 degrees f. at an outside temp of 30 degrees f.; at a higher setting or more wattage I would think it would heat as warm as you could want. Here's the website:

I had found it on Amazon, but they only gave the weight... as 17 pounds... (I bet they use the same number for all of them in their stats) but no measurements. I like this type of heater and have used them successfully in my houses. For these radiator style, it is nicely compact.
But, this one is still way too big for me to use in my B... nowhere to put the danged thing. All my nooks and crannies are filled. BTW... on Amazon it is $58, but then you have to pay freight.
Size is why I got the one from the link I gave above. It is a totally flat panel and there are a dozen places I could put it. I will be interested to find out how well it works.

I just bought a Warm Fusion ceramic heater fan at Target for $17.95. It has two settings of 1000 watts and 1500 watts. The size is very small at 8" H x 6-3/8" W x 5-5/8" D so it can be tucked out of the way on just about any shelf. I think it will give off more than enough heat this Fall as long as the temp is above freezing.

I wouldn't want something that big, a smal ceramic heater does the trick, and if there is no electricity bring also a long a catalytic heater like the Coleman Blackcat 3000 BTU model.

We like that the compact oil heater makes no noise and keeps the cabin warm using only 500 watts (just 5 regular light bulbs' worth), leaving some power to spare as we are often plugged into just household current.

I do agree, but I find it still too big. I love the complete silence of the oil-filled heaters. The Pelonis disk furnace sold by Camping World is also silent, but its lowest temperature can be too warm - though it was perfect last year when the outside temps were around -20F.

Hi,
I have a Pelonis HC-461 ceramic heater, and I think it is perfect for a Class B.
The nice thing about this heater is it has a variable speed fan and power output. It doesn't cycle on-and-off like other heaters, but adjusts continually based on the ambient temperature. It is rated at 1500 watts max, and has a digital thermostat.
A side note: The power rating of a heater indicates the amount of electricty is uses, but does not guarantee a specific amount of heat output. Each design uses a different method to transfer the heat to the environment, and some do better than others.
