A lot of compartment doors are manufactured by companies other than the RV manufacturer. Check with any good RV repairer and they can probably get you a match for the foor you damaged. Is the door frame damaged, or just the panel? If just the panel, you may be able to replace it yourself. I kicked up a piece of metal and it went right through a front compartment door on a trailer I had a few years ago. I removed the door and found out that all it is is a frame with the fiberglas panel in a track. Just popped it loose at the seam, got a matching piece of fiberglass from a local RV dealer, cut it and replaced it myself. Cost under $10. Good luck.

We have checklists which we have tailored for our rig and truck. We have traveled so often this year that I've gotten a little sloppy in reading the lists in detail. Yesterday we started to depart with my wife watching and getting ready to close our gate, when she waved her arms and indicated I should stop!! I'd forgotten to remove the theel chock of the side of the slide out. Whemn I did my last walk about the slide out was out and I failed to recall not removing the wheel chock on that side! I had checked it off on our list. You just can not afford to be the least bit sloppy. Ask by e-mail and I'll send you our lists.

So, what kind of neighbors do you have that won't even let you load or unload a vehicle? What place won't allow you to park long enough to pack it up? Must you carry everything to one vehicle, then go to a storage place and unload that vehicle into the 5th wheel? What kind of cops are they to tell you "one hour or a $50 ticket"? Even when I was a rookie cop, I gave people more respect than that. Times have really changed!

After having an unexpected delay on leaving with our fiver a few years back, I had a snobb neighbor call me in for parking on the curb. I, also, got a visit from the local patrol. After taking a look at my city ordinance manual, (I keep one on file due to my architectural business) I found that we have an ordinance that allows you to park an rv on the curb for 48 hours maximum before it has to be moved. I spoke with code inforcement and said "What if I got in the rig, drove around the block and then parked it for another 48 hours"? The ordinance writing did not elaborate on that possibility. My code enforcement friend said "go for it"! I guess I will not do so out of not wanting to put myself in the same class as the other a**es in the neighborhood.

RONMACK... yup, when I was enforcing that type of stuff, all a person had to do was just move the vehicle. No distance was specified, so moving just a foot took care of a ticket for another 48 ours. Here in vegas, I believe the ordinance gives one 72 hours to park for loading/unloading.
