I vote for NOT painting over paneling in such good shape. Painted over paneling often ends up looking like...well...painted over paneling. Perhaps some decorative mirrors could be glued over those hideous orange/avocado still-life decals over the sink.

I agree. Don't paint the kitchen area. It's to nice. I'd also try a couple of mirrors first. Then maybe lighter curtains and flooring to brighten it up.

If it aint broke don't fix it.

well call me old fashion but from the pics I saw it looked to be in pretty good shape on the inside why change it especially if everything works

Ohhhhhhhh ITA with the above post!!!(Reference to FleaM35A2 trailer)

The inside is so 'classic' with the avocado and orange. I can understand wanting to fix it up and make sure that the stove/heater/elec., etc. works well, but if it were myself, I would not take out the counter-tops. I would try to fix it up more in the 'retro' style. Maybe not as bright of an orange/flora pattern on the couch, but I would certainly try to get some type of material that fixed in with the year the trailer was made.

I have seen so many 'older' trailers that were fixed up 'retro' and they really look all that more special staying in style of the year they were made, instead of totally making the insides look like they belong strictly in the 2000's style.

Whatever you decide to do...please share photos of your renovations with us. I would love to see how it all turns out. She is a beauty for sure!!!

Good Luck!

Thanks to everyone for the comments, but I think my camera is giving the cabinets more justice than they deserve.

My wife is great with tiling projects (did her mom's whole kitchen backsplash and countertop and her bathroom counter), and she's going to do a mosaic-style counter directly over the green.

I may replace the hardware and the carpet/linoleum and see how it looks.

Any way you slice it, the couch is getting replaced. The cushions are NASTY from sitting so long, and the pattern is horrible and stained.

BUT, my wife is BIG into retro-style stuff so we may do a faux-70's/modern deal... who knows?! We are at the design part of this project anyways, so there is plenty of time for ideas!

At any rate, can anyone recommend a good aluminum polish? I'm going to get started by refurbishing the bare aluminum "stripe" down the sides and around the back to a mirror finish. Should provide a nice contrast to the semigloss paint I have picked out.

If "I" had a trailer like yours I would but one of these:

Mr. Heater® Portable Big Buddy™ Heater to heat the trailer. We have several friends who own them and love them.

Bookmarked, and will see if my favorite store has one
Thank you.

they looks like a nice combo but for me I would change the wheel and tires to match the jeep or at least clean and paint the wheels a nice silver

Actually......
One of the spares has the original dog dish hubcap, painted a bright yellow to match what I can only assume was the original yellow on the trailer. New tires are in the plan this winter, and then a search for a matching hubcap, or a similar pair from the era.

Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish. Great stuff.
If you want a mirror polish, it will take you awhile but once done, it will take the sight out of your eyes.

Check around on flooring. I wanted laminate in my Travco but did not want to pay laminate prices.
Craigslist last June, I found 200 ft of birch for free!

I've had good luck with Mother's also. But I like Wenol better myself.

Looks like a few of us like Mothers.

I'd give Old English a try on the cabinets just to see if it helps.

I hope you can find another matching hub cap, that would be my first choice.
