I ranted about this earlier in another topic.

I hope I didn't imply that anyone should sacrifice their warranty by having someone else (other than the dealer) do the work. Not at all. I just wouldn't take it back to the dealer for the warranty work. I'd call the factory and tell them which local independent shop I wanted to take it to and get their approval up front.

I second that, I had excellent service from a third party independent repair facility. They had my repair work done in less than a week and had all communications and billing taken care of through weekend warrior. Even the dealer where I bought the trailer gave me some BS line about being backed up for about 2 months before they could take mine in for the work.

for me, the best deals are not to be had locally (nor the service). I urge everyone to take your trailer to a dealership/service place first, just to see the giant circus, and huge let down from plopping down 20-70k of your hard-earned money.

Relay to the manufacturer how dissatisfied you were with your experience, and kindly ask permission to take your rig in, next time, to a local independent, NON DEALERSHIP, repair ONLY facility.

the best service I got from the stealership was LIP SERVICE. Where they find these idiots to head up their service department is beyond me. The ones I have had contact with seem to have less than a High School diploma, and if they do possess one, then SHAME on that school for lowering their expectations for this poor excuse of a human being.

Please report both good and bad service to http://www.rvservicereviews.com so we can all benefit from your experience.

I have no ties with the site, financial or otherwise, but I am a frequent poster there.

My dealer "Carson RV Toystore" in Carson City Nevada, has been really great with service. My auto fan vent in the bedroom of our 5th broke...they fixed it under warranty in one visit and put a newer improved model in...all under warranty. I can't say enough about them...great dealer all the way around.
Since they are 2 1/2 hours drive...most stuff gets fixed by me....but when it's a warranty issue or something I can't do, they cover it.

I bought My 2007 Sonoma TT At Carson RV and I would never do business with them again. Very unorganized finance department promised me 0% interest for 4 years. I got my second bill and my interest was 22% Called Carson RV and was told to call the finance company they use, so I call the finance company and they tell me that's the way Carson RV set it up. I finally ended up refinancing through my credit union.
Long story short do your home work double check triple check everything they tell you.

I've purchased three rigs from Russ Dean RV in Pasco, WA - obviously if service had been poor I wouldn't have bought from them again. I've gotten to know most of the folks there on a first name basis and I've always had good results. I've had a few issues but we worked through things and I walked away feeling good about it. In the end that's what counts. I am happy that I've gotten to know the people there as it helps when I have a problem to be able to talk to a person and not to a human just writing things down.

Forced Family Fun... They'll thank you later for it!

So true !! I have never had someone else do a job that I was satisfied with. Do it yourself and get it done right !!

We’re on our second RV and these are some of the reasons we didn’t purchase the extended warranty, this time.

Last July we took our new toy hauler in for some minor warranty repairs. One of the issues was the dinette. The screws for the table leg mounts were poking through the top of the table. The service writer said he had to order a new table and would take about a week. I followed up with him several times over a three week period and got same answer, it’s on order.

Let’s see: The manufacturer for our toy hauler (Eclipse) is located in Riverside, CA. The dealer is located in Colton, CA 10 miles away. +3 weeks seems a little ridiculous.

Anyways we just wrote it off and decided to live with the defect.

Two days ago (now six months later) the service writer calls and says our table is in. I say wow I totally forgot about it, since it’s been six months and the service writer chuckles.

So I bring my old table in to swap for the new table and the one he wants to give me is the wrong color and pattern. As we're standing there and he’s trying to convince me to take the table which he says is in excellent condition and I agree, but tell him it’s not going work it doesn’t match the rest of our counter tops.

They take pictures and say they’ll order the correct one tomorrow.

I’m not going to hold my breath.

McMahons service department in Colton is a joke.

Couldn't be happier with the SERVICE I have received straight from the guys at Rage'N. I just wish they were closer.

I've said it before and I will say it again. I have a Power Caster mover for my trailer and they have treated me very well.. When ever I have had a problem (all my fault) they have taken care of my mover, offered a loaner, and worked around my schedule to get me taken care of...
