Joel,

To bad that the dog is being moved May 19th - or thereabouts.

I will be driving from Lake Tahoe to Vancover Wa, about July 15th at the earliest. I would love to help out, but the timing is off by about 2 months. I also used to have a 3 legged Lab / Irish Setter mix back when I was in high school.

Fred.

If we can't get someone from here, I think I'll check with Best Friends and see if anybody might be headed up that way. It would sure be easier not to have to go too far north... but in any case, we'll get it done.

Let me see if I understand this so far. Do we need transport from Bakersfield to Los Banos at the very least? I have a (very reluctant) sister in that area I could contact if that's the case. No promises as she leads a busy life with two boys but it's worth a shot.

Is there anything we might bribe her with?

Lots and most of it she would reject. Long story! I love my sister but this is not one of her better traits.

As I said earlier, she is reluctant. However, she is not without a heart. When I talked to her she said "explore ALL your other options first". I expect we will do that. I also told her to see if there were other "rescue friendly" folks that might want to lend a hand from her end. She agreed to do so and we have time to wait for results.

Just a bit of an update on this problematic leg of the trip. I have gotten the phone number of a rescue group in Hollister CA and will be contacting them to see if they can help us with this transport. The problem is that their hours are limited so it might take me a few days to talk to them in person. I am hopeful though. We lived in that area years ago and they are good folks. Oh, and I'm still not letting my sister off the hook yet either.

Keep us posted. The rest of the trip seems to be falling together very well. It would be a shame to have this snag mess up everyones plans as of now.

Don't worry... if it comes to it, I'll do an overnight and go up through the state. Not all that attractive a prospect right after a long road trip, but we'll make this happen.
